Short or Long Intake?
Ok- I am looking for an aftermarket intake for my xB. I have seen the short intake setups and some that are quite long. What do you run and do you have an opinion on which would perform better?
I would say go with something like the K&N unit. Its a little of both. Its a short style, thats a CAI. sets the filter right behind the fog light area. I cant recall the exact things, but something like a short intak gives a little more tq down low while a longer intake gives more up top power, or something like that. With this small of a engine, the differences, aint much.
I have the AEM long one. I did not want to go with anything other than that for fears of possible engine warranty issues. I am overcautious.
On a side note, please don't tell me that people are going to start listing every mod to their xBs in their signatures the way people are with their tCs.

Intake Shoot out
^^ read this if you haven't already. It says the Injen intake gains you the mosy power out of these 4. I'm not sure if there are any others out.
Personally I like the Injen because of the power gains and they make a damn good product. If you're really worried about warranty issues and hydo locking go AEM to be safe, just make sure you get the one that has a bypass valve with it already. Truthfully speaking you really don't have to worry about the warranty thing unless you hydo lock. There's a thing called the Magnusson-Moss Act that has to do with that . Here read this.

WILL ADDING AFTER MARKET PRODUCTS VOID MY WARRANTY?
The Magnusson-Moss Warranty – Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975 protects consumers from such fraudulent activity by new car dealers. Under this Act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer’s original warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle’s warranty or if it can be proven that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. The easiest way to check this is to look in your owner’s manual under, “what is not covered”. Under Magnusson-Moss Act a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before they can deny warranty coverage. If they cannot prove such a claim or offer an explanation, it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission (202 326-312
administers the Magnusson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law.

it all really depends if your more for show or go i went with the injen s/r intake becaus e its a good product and i think that where they place the filter is in a great location away from the engine but a lot of people complain that it leaves a huge hole where the stock air box sits which imo who cares (IF your lokking for performance) but if show is the way you want to go then go with the cai
You get the most performance out of the CAI (long one) and you're protected warranty wise by going with the AEM that's furnished by Toyota. It has the bypass valve built in to protect against hydrolocking your engine and it's covered by the Toyota Warranty. Here's a link so you can take a look.
