I have had mine on for a while now with no problems. I am going to check the bolt though.

Crank nose bolts are meant to be used / torqued ONCE.

With a new pulley - you should get a new bolt - otherwise you risk putting a bolt on with stretched threads...

Just torque a new one to sped... and if you are really paranoid... use some loc-tite..

With an old bolt - this doesn't surprise me.

2600 for a new crankshaft? you people know that you can get a used 1nzfe motor for as cheap as 150.00 at a junkyard right ?

I asked my parts guy and a regional toyota tech rep friend of mine and thy said that for the 1nzfe it is not a stretch bolt. so you should be fine re-using it.

on a seperate note

i know when i installed mine i bent the pin so i decided to up the ante and use hardened steel as the replacemnt.

TIGHTEN the nose bolt tigh not just hand tight. geeze no friggin wonder some peeps are having problems.

yeah can;t blame anyone if they don;t know but i'd hope somewhere along the line that they figure out that the crankshaft is a bit of an important part of your motor , LOL

well i'm ghetto and don;t have airtools so whilst i was manhandling a ratchet to tighetn it whilst in gear i jammed it a bit to hard while it was still pretty loose and voila i bent the tin metal like pin.

i am using the unorthodox crank pully, what were some of the symptoms before the pully fell off? I have had mine on for about 6 months.

This is RULE #1 when modifying a car. You've got to check the things you've done periodically.

This is not a pulley issue, but an issue with the pulley installation.

Same here! There isn't enough power gains from this sort of part anyhow.

i am now on the 2nd pulley for my xa. the first was a cnr billet underdrive pulley that i put on the car around 1500 miles. i had it on there for a year with no problems and then sold it for a big profit. the 2nd pulley i now have on is a perrin billet pulley and both have had no problems with spinning off, and i installed both of them myself. they are also hand tight, if you call not using an impact wrench hand tight. i just used a 2 foot long piece of 1/2 inch emt when i tightened them on and used my leg to tighten it while holding onto the front of the car, so that is probably about 210 lbs of torque.

yeah when i changed mine it was a pain to take off, so i made sure i used alota force to put back on, i bent the aluminum tube i was usin as a breaker bar so i think thats probably tight enough, but ill check agian, btw that thing was hard to put on cuz the belts are so tight even when tensioners are loosened, geez. I see it this way, if your not sure of your own installation abilities, then dont put it on.

Alright, I used and air wrench and then used a breaker bar to be on the safe side. This is one mod I do not recommend, there was no power gain, I actually thought I lost a horse or two.

That doesn;t make sense. Your engine should be able to rev up faster.

^^^ i would say it all depends on each person's perspective but in theory taking weight off of the crank should allow the motor to rev up quicker even if its by onlee a second......there isnt any hp gains from this mod.....this mod is onlee used to free up some extra whp allowing you a lil more (very lil) whp that you already have.......now why dont you try taking apart your bottom end and taking out the crankshaft and taking it to the machine shop and have them knife edge it for you and then report back......cuzz that is what ima go do when i get my second motor that ima build up........
