Default SRI problem? maybe, not sure.

So Ive had the Fujita SRI installed for a month or so now. Noticed a lil bit of extra power on the highway but not much else.

Lately though, when I have been at lights or at intersections where I need to merge or cross traffic, it seems as if my car doesnt want to move. I press down the gas, but the car just kind of revs a bit and barely gets going. I feels like the car is bogging down or going to stall (although I drive an auto).

Im trying to figure out whats wrong... or if there is even a problem.

Is the intake not functioning correct? I also thought that I might have lost some torque due to the intake, but if this was the problem, wouldn't it happen all the time?

Sounds like something is wrong.

My car did that from time to time when I had the infamous "poor-man's intake". The poor seals, bad filter location, and loose fitting MAF were probably to blame. After I got the Injen SRI it never happened again.

I'd say you double check everything and reset ECU.

if your in a relativiely hot climate, you will see some power loss in the hot weather, due to the SRI sucking in from a hot engine bay.

I can't remember if fujita came outside to the bumper... but if it doesnt, id suggest K&N CAI for our xA and xB, it is the best designed.

Minimal bends, Minimal length, Cold air and quaility proven and tested k&n filter

I notice the low RPM torque loss with my Fujita. Worse when it's cold. Not a problem once I'd learned how to drive with it. I'd say it's because you have an auto and can't keep the RPMs up around 3,000 where the intake starts to make a difference. If you're driving below that then you'd probably be happier with the stock intake.

i have a manual xb with NO mods to it, and i get that bogging down feeling when i take off from first gear also. Is that normal? i only have 6k miles on it. In first gear it feels boggy and in 5th gear it feels sluggish.

Sounds normal. The 1.5 doesn't have a lot of power. The power it does have is in the upper RPM. Drive in the 3,000+ RPM range and it will feel much peppier. It's counter intuitive, but your fuel economy should stay the same or improve. No getting around the sluggishness off the line (without revving and slipping the clutch excessively), especially when running the A/C. Add an intake and it gets *slightly* more sluggish off the line, but more power in the upper RPMs.

yeah Im thinking about switching back to stock. Im mainly city driving with minimal highway so I dont see the benefit of that high RPM boost and I hav an auto so I cant control the RPM's like a 5spd.

and I cleaned my MAF last night. It looked new, barely had any dirtyness on it and the o-ring looked intact. the hoses were also fine, nothing was loose...

like I said, prob gonna take the intake off since the stock will give me back the low-end torque that I lost with SRI.

Try using the switch to turn off overdrive and see if it improves things. Otherwise, the intake will probably only help if you drive aggressively (flooring it to cause downshifts) or on the highway.

dude its sluggish before 3000 rpm's becauses its like 2700 lbs and has less than 40 hp at that range

nothing is wrong with your box

I had an auto xA and a stick xA and the auto was WAY slower... So slow infact I had to get manual to survive the freeway. However, the manual doesnt go into O/D like the auto, so your at 4000 rpms crusing at 80.

thats why the new scions have bigger engines.
