Default strup exhaust silencer

ive done a lot of searching for the strup exhaust with a silencer but cnt really find much.

the couple questions i have are:

wheres the cheapest place to get a silencer for the strup axle back for xb
does anyone have sound clips with or with out it in
and just any pros or cons you guys have.

and btw, a lot of the other threads on exhausts get side tracked with other exhausts and peoples opinions on them and i really want to stay on this please. thanks.

any info would help

i believe you have to use a "universal" silencer for the strup, because it doesn't come with one. The silencer will quiet the exaust but will create back pressure / hinder the flow of exaust out of the exaust, which is exactly why people add perf exaust because stock is restrictive. I say get a quieter perf exaust if you dont like the drone of the strup.
Adding a silencer will not add a lot of back pressure mind you, but imo it defeats the purpose of adding that particular exaust... It's like sewing sleeves on a muscle shirt...
If you must add one (can't find anyone to swap exausts with you) any muffler shop can get one, as well as e-bay and a variety of on line retailers, just lookup the specs on the strup tip, and get a uni silencer that fits in the tip..

I actually just got the strup double-wall silencer for my strup exhaust a few weeks ago. I got it straight from them, just email sales@strup.us and Charlie should reply with pricing for you. I would not recommend getting a cheap universal 4" silencer from eBay or whatever. I did exactly that before I got the real thing and it didn't fit and I wasted my money (not that all universal silencers wouldn't fit, just that I had a bad experience with one.) Just pay the little extra for the right part and you won't have any problems. I like mine alot, doesn't actually "silence" the exhaust, but does get rid of the drone almost completely. It makes it sound much quieter yet deeper b/c it is cancelling out a lot of the midrange (drone) frequencies. I didn't really notice any decrease in "performance" after the install either. I get the whole concept of restricting the flow and therefore restricting high-end HP, but honestly I didn't notice anything. I'm no expert on exhaust performance, but the pipe and opening in the silencer is the same diameter as the piping on the inside of the exhaust so I don't see how it can really affect performance THAT much if at all. If anything, it is just making the gases travel a few more inches before they exit. If the "wow" factor of the loud exhaust has faded and you are tired of the drone, I would definitely recommend the silencer.
