Default toaster is toast

My 06 xb has lost compression on #1 and #4 cyls. I haven't had time to completely check it out....it sounds like valves..

anyway going on cost it seems to be cheaper around here to just buy a used 1nzfe out of a wreck ($300) and swap the heads/whole engine asm.

question.... what years of the echo and yaris are the same as my xb?

My local yard has a couple of 01 echos in and a 06 xb with a little higher mileage.
Would I be able to swap the heads from the 01 echo into my 06 xb?

I'm leaning toward just buying the 06 xb with 91k on it......

If you swap heads youll be fine. But If i were in your shoes, Id just get my hands on a complete motor and swap over the sensors and wiring from the your motor... I find it odd that you may have lost a valve... Does it ping? Can you hear anything flopping around in the top end?

Compression tests don't usually lie.....usually....

I found it hard to believe as well....so hard to believe in fact, that I took it to the dealer and they concurr that it is major internal engine failure.(they found it hard to believe also)

It will barely idle throws misfire codes puffing when running worse when warm etc....

Idk what happened..the only thing I can think of is the time I was trying to teach my son how to drive stick and he dropped it into second when we were running about 65.

A compression test doesnt lie, your right, but Ive over reved my motor before and valve damage on these cars is hard...

If its something with temp, where you said it runs worse when warm and it doesnt idle, thats a head gasket... Have you pulled plugs yet to see if there is anything on them? Oil/Coolant in the clys will cause a missfire

List of things that would cause bad compression
-Dead Valves
-Blown Headgasket
-Cracked/blown piston
-Blown rings
-Bent rods

If it is the head gasket, Iwould suggest swapping the motor, since blown headgaskets lead to cracked heads in our cars
