Transmission/engine performance/noise when cold.
I don't know if it's my car or every 1st gen xA. My xA automatic shifts at a disturbing 3,500 RPM when the engine is cold from 2nd to 3rd gear. When the Engine Cold light goes off, the transmission shifts normally. I feel uncomfortable when my car does this especially when temperatures are falling near freezing and the oil is very viscous.
Also, when engine is cold and I shift to drive or reverse, there's some squeak noise and metal clacking noise coming from the front. I checked the belts and they were in good condition and tight.

The engine probably shifts at a higher RPM to warm up faster. I know in many cars, overdrive is disabled until the engine reaches operating temperature. The squeak and metal noise may be motor mounts getting old and worn.
