Default transmission swap

I own a 2003 toyota echo w/ an automatic tranny. I want a manual set-up. I tried looking on Ebay for one but I can't find any. I hear that Scions xA,xB,Yaris and Vitz all share the same drivetrain.

Anyone know of a site that sells used ( or new ) manual units for my car?

Anyone know of a place in Tennessee that does the swap? Clarksville TN to be more specific.

Thanks

Yes, final drive gears are different. Both have the same engine though.

Transmission from a Scion woult still fit my car ( not a tC though )

Again, any ideas on where to get a manual transmission or a shop to put one in?

This place came up on google. Can't comment on service or anything since I have clue about them, but they are in Clarksville.

D & D Auto Salvage
520 Barge Point Rd
Clarksville, TN 37042
(931) 920-5793

North Georgia area salvage yards are the only place that I could give some answers about service.

You might want to try a junkyard to avoid dumping a whole lot of money into it. As for installation, maybe you could give it a shot yourself.

Oh, and that place that I posted would be to pick up a tranny. Not to have it installed.

Even if they don't have one in the yard, then they should be able to locate one for you. At least most salvage yards these days can.

D & D rules! I've been there plenty of times when I had my Trooper. Most of their stuff is scrap though.

There is a huge salvage yard in Smyrna but they won't talk to you unless you're ready to spend big bucks. They did have a crashed Echo when I was there a couple years ago. Don't remember if it was a manual though.

That said you're better off selling it and buying a manual Echo, considering how much time and money you'll sink into it, and how it will hurt the value of your car.

I got this Echo when I was still in the ARMY and just needed it for a commuter since it was so good on gas. Anyway, I bought the wifey a Durango so my Echo is no longer the family car.

I have dyno-matted the entire car ( to inclue roof ) and gotten an R34 kit custom molded to fit it, shaved doors w/ poppers. The under-body and wheel-well light set-up etc. Just a headache to change. Not to mention the roof scoop and the paint is aftermarket. I could go on and on really but that is why I rather get the manual done on this car rather than get another Echo w/ the manual factory. Next step is to update the SC anyway. I hear automatic trans are the weak link in a performance vehicle.

Sorry for the long post and i am kicking myself for not having pics to show

Thanks a TON for the info on the shop in TN - LeroyJMC

I called that number LeroyJMC. It was the fax machine line. So I googled up the name of the company and got a ring. The guy told me that there were no used Echo trannies

Then I called Toyota and found out that a new transmission would run me almost $2,500.00. New clutch would be $250.00. That's just for parts

Looking bleak but screw it, I'm saving my money. I'm also going to buy an aftermarket clutch set-up. Won't be any time soon but @ least I know where to start now.

I bet that I could get you one located if you'd be willing to drive down to GA to pick it up. They will ship it to you, but you would be charged freight. They would give you a 30 day warranty, but it probably would not cover shipping costs...only the cost of the tranny.

Don't forget about a pressure plate, throw-out bearing, master cylinder, pedal assembly, shifter assembly and cables, possible ECU change, possible wire harness changes, interior pieces like the bezels around the shifter, plus countless other small parts....plus installation.
