trd lsd
don't quote me on this one, but i think quaife ( It thats how you spell it) might have one.
I've been doing some research myself on lsd's. I have a scion, and the manufacture will put one on for almost $1,100 without parts and labor. But its made by quaife, but trd decided to re-name it.
If i buy it from quaife the lsd will run me $400 cheaper for the part and i can find a place to put it on for cheap. But my warranty will be avoided if i go the cheap route with the quaife lsd, but quaife has its own warranty as well.

yeah, after putting lsd on my tc, i think it should be standard on all cars. it just makes driving it so much easier. so many times i think to myself while driving "couldn't of pulled that off without lsd."
Sry, i should of explained myself alittle more with the lsd(limited slip differential). Scion has one for the tc by trd called a (Limited torque differential) which is the same thing.
I believe that in order to have the proper tunning of a car should be built from the ground up. Don't get me wrong, power is cool and a straight adrenaline rush, but its also an adrenaline rush when your car starts to go out of control and theres nothing you can do but to hope you live through it and that your air bags deploy.
With my tc right now im debating on the trd defferential or the quaife differential. With that, it will help me get more horse and torque to the wheels. Then im going to go lowering with the trd or tien springs to make cornering much tighter. Then from there do more research on the sway bars.
The stock differential sucks, and i still don't understand why you have to put so much into a car that should of came standard with it all in the first place.

only worth it if :
a)you are boosted
b)you have a dedicated track car
c)you drive in the snow or mud a lot
Also, The Quaife is extremely strong and durable and since the Quaife is gear operated, it has no plates or clutches that can wear out and need costly replacement.
Remember, Quaife LSD and Trd are the same. TRD bought it right after it came out and rebadged it. A few people already run one and like it quite a bit.
Its up to you, i don't know if you want to hit corners fast, better traction or go all out for speed. Im just saying if you want all out speed, i would work on the handling first then gradually bump up the horse and torque next.
As for traction and handling i would go with the LSD, a Rear Sway and Lowering Springs will give you the most improvement in handling for the money. The TRD parts are our most popular, but there are a lot of good spring sets available from different manufacturers. Hotchkis, Tein, Progress, among others.
Then a fly wheel/new clutch and a short shifter and pray that scion comes out with there own turbocharger.

Right now our tranny shop next door is working on a destroyed xA transmission. We have an LSD for it and are trying to see if we can get the internals of the 6 speed celica to fit in the case that comes with it. I will have a complete update on this as soon as we know it works.
Use a C59 tranny from a Matrix / newer Celica or a C60 if you want 6 speed, but Quaife makes a LSD for it.
if you use the C59, you may not need to do an of the modification that the C60 requires but you would have a new and rather strong ad VERY reliable LSD going on plus because of the tranny swap you'd have a MUCH stronger tranny and you can get a longer final drive from Quaife too if you want, would be better to use the C60 with the final drive so that gears 1-5 are the same as the stock tranny while the 6th is a great ovedrive putting you at about 2,100-2,200 rpm at 60-65mph highway speeds.

yes, the latast versions of the Celica GT and GTS, this also inclueds the Matrix XR and XRS because they use the same engines and same trannies.
i believe it's part number 94.309.170 and expect to spend around $1,400 for the ATB-LSD.
if you are buying a C60 tranny brand new, being that last i knew there were only 7 left in the left over stock pile of Toyota, they can be around $5,600 brand new. i sugjest a used tranny if you're doing the swap. Monkey Wrench Racing or www.monkeywrenchracing.com has C59 and C60 trannys that are used, cleaned and rebuilt and i believe they ask around 1,000-1,200 for them.

you will need to do some trimming to the sub frame core suport on the left fender side. a small trim on the side of the frame and then reinforce after you've intalled the new tranny and you should be good to go. i would get the bell housing and GTS gaskets and seals from the Celica just incase you need them.
