Default TRD quick shift/Boot: Updated Pics.

I installed a TRD quickshift yesterday, one of the easiest installs ever, and after all was said and done I realized something. The shaft is a bit thicker than stock and so now the chrome ring around the shift boof wont fit over the shaft. I was going to try to put a little grease on it and tap it with a rubber mallet. Then I thought I could just bore it out a bit with me dremel but I thought I'd ask around first. How did you get yours to fit? Also, what did you do with the white ring stop? Some help would be great.

That's what I figured I was going to have to do but the top of the chrome ring has the holes in the top of it and I just don't think that would look very clean. Do you have any pics of yours that I can see?

Umm, you are supposed to remove the silver ring and the white ring stop.

Umm, what? The ringstop is off but taking the silver ring off the boot? That doesn't sound right at all. Anyone got some pics?

This is what i did.... Since the new TRD SS has a black shaft, It is ment to be exposed. while I was putting back my center console, I inverted the boot and zip tied the inside of the boot to the shaft. Then, when I put the console back inplace, the boot inverted back, and not the boot is tight on the shaft.......

I can slide the boot up or down as I wish, but I like it a few inches down, so I can put the shift **** in my hand...

I do want the shaft to be exposed but I am going to try to find a way to keep that silver ring on there. I don't like the way it transitions without it. Thanks for the pics though.

If you bore out the silver trim ring, keep in mind that the top of the ring has these ugly grooves/mold marks that will be visible with the TRD shift ****.....

While I had mine out I brought the boot inside and sewed it so the hole would be slightly bigger than the shaft. I rolled the top edge back in and it looks like it was made that way. It'll even look good if I have to put the factory shifter back in which I don't ever see happening.

I decided on what to do. I was able to keep the silver ring for an almost stock appearance.

Yeah I was in and out of it all weekend long and where I live there is no such thing as grass. All I have in my yard is dirt, rocks, and pinestraw. It's cleaned up since then but I'll admit I'm a little ashamed of the mess.

Looks like you did a pretty good job but please pull the boot up some. It's not a leg warmer.
