The pro's are increased horsepower and torque along with improved throttle response. Possible con's are reduced A/C performance and electrical output. However, in my case there isn't a noticeable difference in the A/C and it gets pretty hot down here in New Orleans. As for the electrical system, the UR website doesn't recommend using its underdrive pulleys on vehicles with stereo systems over 600 watts. Since I'm using the stock stereo, I should be fine.

what if you have a hyper voltage kit and ground wiring an upgraded battery and spark plugs, along with spark plug wires, would that allow you to still the same performance and still allow a high powered stero. Im looking to be pushing over 2500 watts.

The UR website recommends that people with stereo systems over 600 watts use a pulley that is not underdriven (like the Perrin pulley) or have them make a custom alternator pulley for you that will increase the voltage.

so using the perrin pulley will allow me to build and use a high powered audio system.

It's not underdriven, so whatever the stock electrical system can take, with the Perrin pulley there will be no difference.

i would get a higher output alternator or have the oem one rewound for more power.......the whole thing is that your oem alt. wouldnt be putting out enough power from being underdriven to charge the battery as it should and for 2500+ RMS Watts safely i would 1. upgrade the alt. 2.possibly add a optima battery 3. atleast 3 farads of capacitors

Is this pertaining to those who want and ahve alternate sound systems?

define alternate? if its something small you should be fine without most of that but i would recomend to anyone running an amp to have capacitors .5F for up to500rms 1F for up to 1000rms and so on......the caps will keep your power draw from spiking on your cars power supply but like i said if its not a huge system should be ok (check what the fuses on the amp say and add up to that will tell you how much of a draw they take

dang i was about to post a new thread about the pulley.. good thing i did a search first

here is my scenario

i want to add parts to the xb. this pulley beign one of them.
i want to upgrade to iridium spark plugs.
and in the future get a new sound system. i already have the 1or 2 farad capacitor and might get the yellow top battery.

exclusion from the battery, what else do i need to upgrade?

Grimstar: as far as i know the perrin is ONLY lighter not a underdriven pulley

gnar: probably not but to be on the safe side get atleast a 1farad cap for every 1000rms watts you push

Fujiz: first off how much rms watts do you plan on pushing and how much current are the amp/amps gonna pull from the car ?

stick a 1farad to your subs for sure but you might not have to stick one for your components unless you really are gonna crank em.....for subs when they hit hard and long the draw spikes high hence the caps but components are a little different......you could play it safe and run a .5farad to the component amp

just buy a nice amp like a jl slash series. They have regualted power supplies and don't need caps. I had 2 jl 1000/1 and 1 jl450/4 on the stock alt, just used a red top up front and a yellow top in the back. Was fine while the car was at about 1500+ rpm but would stall the car under that. I have removed that system since then and gone more towards the speed side of things now. I like to change stuff up often. Keeps it exciting, lol.
