Default VVTi Intake Cam Gear Replacement questions

So i got the amazing CEL and other two lights 4000 miles after my warranty expired for the TSB (forget number) of the malfunction hydraulic cam gear assembly. I bought the $200~ part already and am wanting to just replace it myself instead of paying the dealership $400-500 to do it.

I'm wanting any recommendations on which steps i should take to get the old one off and new one on.

And the new part:

I have taken the intake cam caps off, and stopped at the main first cam cap that goes over both camshafts. I was thinking after taking that one off i could maybe lift the intake cam from the opposite end and get the entire camshaft out without loosening anything else regarding to the timing chain. Then with the cam out of the engine i can take the end gear off and put the camshaft back in, in the same position.

I doubt it's going to be this simple, this is why i'd rather ask on here ahead of time. Also, does anyone have torque specs on the cam cap bolts and the main bolt for the gear assembly on the end of the intake camshaft?

Thanks

dam sorry to hear ..best thing i can say is if ya have no idea then just pay the money and have it done ..i was allways told pay a little more now or pay alot later...from what i think but not totally sure is ya need to have it set to top dead center before removing any cam's, chains etc on a car so that ya dont mess the timing up ..im sure there is somekind of tension on the chain and it needs to be released in order to remove it ...i would try to find one of those helms guide i belive is what the dealer calls em but its pricey form what i hear to get one ...hope all goes well let us know how it goes and take pics and stuff so we have a samll idea of what to do next time

Yea i plan on making a sort of guide to this, I wouldn't say that i have no idea what i'm doing but I'm just new to this engine and VVTi crap

I've helped several friends with fixing/building 2JZ-GTE's (and GE's), 4G63's .. in fact at my friends house we're working on 3 4G63 heads (one bottom end), a 2JZ-GTE, and the head of a 91 Sentra. Now my xB haha.

If i have to i guess i'll just put the cam caps back on and take the car to the dealer, I was supposed to sell this car months ago and go figure this would happen while showing it to a potential buyer.

My main car (that i'm always fixing crap on) is a 1997 240sx with a 1998(s14) SR20DET motor in it with basic upgrades. I figure after dealing with all those headache's the xB can't be that hard.
