water temp
so i got bored and finaly hooked up my blitz cooling preformor and a autometer temp gauge my question is does any one else have one hooked up and what tem is it running at because mine will go clear past 250 which is the max for the guage at a stand still if im driving around it will be around 230 if im driving in the morning (ie cars been off for at leats 8 hours and the car is completly cold) it will stay around 180 just want to make sure this is normal thanks
180 to 195 is normal running temp on my autometer gauge. as soon as it gets near 200 or 210 (I forget which the next number marked is) the fan kicks on and it heads back toward 180. I think 195 was supposed to be the normal opening temp for the thermostat and fan.
FYI I am running the Autometer Ultralight Carbonfiber gauge hookedup to the upper radiator hose with a AC technic hose adaptor. Hope this helps

see if it ran around 180 190 i wouldnt be worried its just when im a stop for a long time and it gets up and beyond 250 the only time i hear my fan come on is when the a/c is running
Sounds like you got a problem, get a infared temp thermometer. Check the upper and lower radiator hoses at normal running temp. Either the gauge is reading funky or you might have a problem with the fan. My gauge wasn't working right for a little while cause of the ground I used. For me it was a pretty easy fix. Where is the tempurature sensor for the gauge connected? posibly a problem there or is the red light for the temp coming up? Possibly there is air trapped in the system too, try bleeding the air out. Or just leave the rad cap off overnight and top off come morning time. Any air flowing past the temp sender can cause irregular readings as well.
BTW I believe anything at/over 230 is overheating for the xB. I know on most GM cars 220 is normal operating temp, but 260 is overheating. If there is a problem do not overheat any car.

their is no air in the system already checked that but i figured it out during lunch after looking at it it was the fitting i used fixed the problem and its reading right now thanks for the help

Yeah - and now the ScanGauge II is smaller, much, much nicer looking, has multiple display colors and has modular cables. I wish I could have waited 4 months for the newer version.
I know the dial gauges have a bling factor to 'em , but having all this info at my fingertips without having to splice or cut wires is 'da bomb' (as my neighbor's teenage kid says).

^^^^^^^ Thats why I like the Defi gauges. You run 4 wires for the controller, then the rest of it all is just where the gauges go. No more cutting wires or anything else. Works great.
