Default what i want to do and why theres a problem

i want to add some motor parts to my scion xb but heres where i run into problems:

1. aem cold air intake- i cant find a place that will inlcude the bypass valve with the intake. also is the install hard? i dont even know how the air intake looks on these cars

2. dc sports 4-1 header- i dont know about putting the header on and throwing a cel, or removing my engine cover. also i have a strut tower brace and it is a b!tch to pull off the nuts holding it in, then dropping the struts, then lining them back up.

3. perrin pulley- this just seems very complicated to do. i dont undrestand much of the pulley system and how to get everything lined back up correctly. i heard this can mess up your timing aswell.

thats really the only things im running into problems with

i also want to get

-cat back exhaust
-grounding kit
-fuel rail

im a automatic xb and i ran my car at the track motor bone stock and ran a 18.4 i want to atleast break 16.999 think it is possible?

ok
1. the one with bypass is only available to dealers. you can purchase from them. the bypass is not needed for the applications get an injen short ram or the aem aftermarket intake.
2.Installing a header you will not throw a cel . and if u do it's very easy to reset it. if you remove the plastic engine cover u may be able to squeeve it through that or you could easily slip it out from underneath.
3.the perrin pulley is pretty easy. remove drivers side plastin inner fender well. not much more difficult than that , the biggest pain will be reinstalling the belt.

you will be very happy with the cat back.

the grounding kit will stabilize your idle , give your brighter electronics and such and such. it's a worthwhile mod , not really and hp from it tho.

Fuel rail will give virtually no gain on a non turbo/supercharged car

I believe you will be able to get like 16.7 or so. maybe close to 16.3

and even if it's not that fast it'll be alot faster than it is now. and that will be a very noticeable thing

You can buy the bypass directly from AEM

when i looked at the aem site they only sold the L pipe intake that i currently have. you can buy a bypass valve but it wouldnt do anything unless u had the dual pipe setup

1. im not sure how thick the aem pipe is for the scion, but i have an extra bypass valve at home that i would be willing to let go of.
2. i recommend it. just make sure that if you get an exhaust, you know that the top end will be a little tingy.

a catback would be the best power pod along with the header. i dont see why you would need a aftermarket fuel rail unless you plan to do forced induction. the one we have is just fine.

I don't know why anyone would ever need a fuel rail. Has anyone ever actually looked at the stock rail? It is not the most restrictive part of the system. If you need more fuel flow than the stock fuel system can supply, I would love to take a look at your setup! The ground wires are another mod that won't do much except lighten your wallet. If all these mods leave you with all these questions, I would recommend not buying anything yet and get some adult supervision.

no its not that i dont know what im doing with the motor, its that ive never worked on a toyota motor. ive built 3 turbo b-series motors in civics, 1g dsm turbo motors, and mustang 302's.

toyota is awhole different thing i havent even checked the engine out. the intakes are way different, wth is vvt-i? is that their varible valve timing? ig uess?

anyway, ive never worked on a new car like this before with all the new shiny plastic peices in the engine is what im trying to say.

how is more fuel not good? and who said i wasent going to run a forced induction setup

but i think the best way to go is custom.
