Default Will 2005 Pontiac Vibe engine bolt into 2005 xB

Went to a local wrecking yard..... Spotted a 2005 Pontiac Vibe with the 1.8L motor.... Will this motor built right in to my 2005 xB?

While anything is possible with unlimited time and money, no, that's a totally different motor and will not just "bolt right in."

xBs come with a 1.5 liter engine. Sorry.

Yes, seriously.

I saw a 2005 Pontiac Vibe at a wrecking yard. It is basically a rebadged Toyota Matrix.

The Vibe has a 1.8 liter engine in it. The engine code is 1ZZ-FE.......same engine code as Corolla, Celica and Matrix.

The Pontiac engine IS a Toyota engine. Even has the plastic Toyota VVTi engine cover on top of it.

If I remember correctly, there was a swap done using the 1.8. It involved notching the frame (which then had to be reinforced) and a few other items making it a more than a simple engine swap. Cant remember now where the article was located as this was a few years back.

It would be nice if a 1.8 would bolt in. Most people looking for more go just do a supercharger or a turbo install.
