cause i've never seen a pressure plate designed for oh say 60ish hp , work with over 200 probably over 300 and still do an adequate job.
The pressure plate bolts to the flywheel. You use the pressure plate meant for the engine, not the trans it's bolted to. You would possibly use a clutch disc meant for the trans but no way is a 914 Porsche preasure plate going to bolt up to a V8 flywheel.

well he put it that way........

and you could make a pressure plate from a 914 trans fit a v8 flywheel if you drilled and tapped new holes and somehow the flywheels surface met up with the 914 press plate and clutch. if one so wanted. why would they? i have no idea.

when people dso swapos like that they use a custom clutch wit hthe correct size for the v8 while having the correct amount of splines to fit the 914 trans on the clutch disc. .

On the street car(914) that I'm talking about it has a special flywheel clutch and pressure plate made by Kennedy engineering 228mm and good for about 400ftlbs of torque. this was installed with the v8 about three years ago when the car was at 260k miles. Your way right no way that a stock VW/porsche clutch could hold this. This did 374 rwhp and over 400ftlbs of torque on a honest dyno. I also have another V8 914 set up as a track car using a Tilton 6" double clutch with a set of six puck disks.

You are an expert in this and know far more about it than I do. But maybe didn't know how to drive gently. Pity that you got a Scion with its delicate transmission and clutch that I enjoy so much.

Those who come to Scions from V8s or heavy clutches,or from real sports cars, or that add quick-shifters and pistol grips, or that like to do speed-shifts and burn-outs -- they are the ones that have trouble with Scions. They are just inexpensive Tokyo taxis, yet so good that with care they can be used as sport cars and long-distance travelers.
