Default is the xb for racin' or not?

I was reading a thread about an angled exhaust system question that went in all kinds of crazy directions, the one thing that caught my eye was someone sayin' these aren't for racing. I, personally, can't imagine anything that isn't for racing when you look at barstool and outhouse races. I have gone threw two cars that were built for speed (an 11 sec caprice and a 11 sec starion), after spending thousands and thousands, just to spend thousands more caused me to drift away from my need for speed, and on that note bought an xB. Even though the first thing i did was price the turbo kit . But to say they are not for racing, to me sounds crazy. Even if they only race eachother. Especially a vehicle as different as this.It should draw a multitude of car lovers from the lowered, just cruise, keep it stock, i really wanted a mini, and the race crowd. I could easily imagine xB vs. xB quarter mile drags, road course, and even circle track racing. If they weren't fun to drive then why are you here. For a lot of people competion, is the fun. Be it at the show, the strip, or the track. But maybe i'm nutz.... I wanna hear the masses on this subject, so let 'er rip...

i race mines.......even though ppl say these things weren't ment for speed.....i've beaten several cars that i thought i would lose to........cant say they weren't racing me cuzz it kinda hard to not be racing when you line up honk three times and break 100+mph.......but i would go with what hotbox05 said "was it meant to race? nah. could you build into a racecar? hell yes".............o yea i also ran 17.4 at the track with everything left in the box, 17x7" wheels and normal shifting; i think i would have done better speed shifting but i just wanted to get a feel for the trac frist.......out of three runs my times went from 1st run 18 flat missing second; 2nd run 17.6; 3rd run 17.4; and just b4 the 4th run when i was lineing up they shut the event down cuzz of thunder and lightening.......

well i know they werent built to go run comp. in NIRA, but neither was a 77 corolla, but i've seen plenty of those corollas blasted by boosted hondas, N/A. It was built soley for economy, yet found its way to become a sought after car for the capabilities it has for speed 30 years later. And what you guys have said is my point, "you can", the guy in the thread i read made it sound absurd, then someone else chimmed in and agreed. To each is own, but dont dog the guy trying to make something out of nothing. When he does, you'll find yourself eating your words. It was fun runnin that 17 sec. 1/4 wasn't it. Built for it or not there you were, and that's awsome. Thanks for your input peoples. Drive it slow or fast, love it..

i think street racing is just plain stupid, and the only ppl you see doing it are kids that haven't learned their lesson yet. this lesson generally ends in jail, death or destruction.

then to think about it, racing is plain stupid, unless you benefit monetarily. if you spent more in gas than you won, you lost.

before anyone says it, know those fast corrolas have an insane amount of money and mods, but its still the same corolla built for economy during the gas shortage.. thats all, have fun!

well, all i heard on this thread so far, was track racing. But if you don't like street racing then, there you go, great! I'm 32, and keep it on the track, money spent on my car just for this pursuit, considered your waste, is my hobby. That's all. I put 4000k miles on my car in a year, so I have plenty of gas money left.

Hey I think that was me talking to the tC guys and their missing gears when they shift - it is not a "race car" like an Indy or Daytona car with a pit crew and lots of money and professional drivers that end up breaking their "race cars" as well as they are built - these guys were expecting the tC to hold up like a real "race car" and I said it will not. Anyway - yeah I try to get hypermilling mileage on my xB all the time but every once in a while there is an open stretch of road to the on ramp I wind her out and hold onto the wheel with two hands as it torque steers all over the road as it winds past 5k towards 6k and a little beyond but then I have to back off when I drop it into third as there is no place to go that fast around here legally. Be more interested in how fast you guys and gals can go around a curve without flipping it over or sliding. Seems no one talks about that here.

stock xb's have killed many a faster car on auto x courses.

i'd liek to run mine but i don't want to pay scca fees. but with my stiff racing coilovers , front strut bar , rear strut bar , c pillar bar , front subframe brace , trd rear subframe brace , rear sway bar , upgraded end link bushings , dropped 3 inches plus.

i'm pretty sure i'll kill

SCCA autocross from Milwaukee, WI

I didn't finish first, but I didn't finish last, either! It was my 1st time autocrossing the fridge, so I didn't push it too hard the first couple of runs. I would've done better if I had already known its limits. I can't wait for the 2007 season!

Hey if you want to lower your cg more, roll down all the windows - glass is heavy! I want to see when the stability controls kick in on a turn as to how it all works and slows my xB down safely.

Great minds think alike -- my windows were rolled down in the above photo for that exact reason.

ive done 70+mph on a 35-40 curve/loop on the highway late at night with no problems da fastest i ever took a 40mph curve/loop was at 80mhp and faster my tires start to loose traction and then the trac control kicks in.........da highways are empty at 3 or 4 am

yea it was fun......they put me up against some fast cars. the first one was a suburu rs that onlee ran 15 something, 2nd was 350z that ran 14s, and 3rd was a S14 Silvia that was running turbo but he onlee ran 18 something while i did my 17.4..........but yea all in all it was fun and sadly it had to end on my forth lineup against the 2005 Nissan Altima cuzz of bad weather.......cant wait for the track to open back up so that i can break into the 16s

xB is a car to accessorize and make it look cute. If you want to race, get a 350Z, EVO, STi, S2000, M3...etc.

It's crazy to think the amount of money you need to make an xB fast. It's better to buy a fast car to begin with if your plan is to mod and race.

Sushiboy - almost got some air under that left front tire - nice to know it can handle that much speed on a loop. I had someone say I flew around a corner onto a side street - was only doing 20 on a left turn. I don't think I have bottomed out the suspension yet even when loaded with 4 adults and sail boat gear.
