Here's the thing: Any vehicle can be raced, and with enough money can go really fast. Was the xB designed to be a racecar? Of course not. But I'm sure the Honda Civic wasn't designed to be a racecar either.

The xB is for anything you want it to be! That's one of the things I love about this car. It's my daily driver logging 75 miles per day but on the weekend I can put it in a car show or take it to the drag strip and be competitive. Do I go expecting to win? No, but I don't count myself out either. besides, it's not always about winning. This day, I got to hang with my buds all day AND make 18 runs on the 1/4 mile track. I also drove fast to Sacramento and back, the 18 runs and STILL got 26 mpg compared to my usual 28-30. The track cost me $15. I was the slowest car on the track that day and still ended up one coin flip and one good run away from $400. The practice runs weren't as fun since EVERYONE was beating me, even the Prius, but when it got to the Bracket Racing, things evened out. I would get a few second headstart, depending on the other car's dial-in and then they had to catch me. Talk about PURE ADRENALIN!!!

In the timeslips, my car is 107. The first race was against an EVO, the second against an Acura, the 3rd was a 65 Mustang and the final race was a 70 Nova with a lady at the wheel. The looks on the other winners faces was priceless everytime I came around and lined up again. There were 3 of us left and I lost the coin flip twice to get a bye to the final round, so I had to race the Nova. I jumped too soon and the Red light threw me off and I let off the gas and ended up with my worst run of the day, but look at the consistency of those first 3 runs! I didn't really understand the dial-in at first either, so it's a little lower than it should've been. The Nova got beat by a stock-looking GMC pickup running 16's...

^^ Awsome man

These things were not meant to be raced, competetivly, in the world of 9 sec. street cars, but i still think the fact we are a DOHC, and the first options from the dealer were a catback and cold air, means a little somethin'. I just believe we are in a class all our own and all aspects of that should be recognized. The fact that some think its absurd, just frustrates the hell out of me, and it is definatley nice to hear from the guys that are doin' it, and you aren't coming in last. Keep it up, and as a whole we will figure stuff out and grow from there.

It's crazy to think the amount of money you need to make an xB fast. It's better to buy a fast car to begin with if your plan is to mod and race.

for less than 6 grand you can get an automatic xb into the 12's .
Here is one of those 12 sec automatic xb's. Just think about having this at the track. I would love to be in the 12's in my xb just to see peoples faces at the track, street, or wherever when the box with zero aerodynamics beats the civics, and acura integras, etc!

Here on Guam - for those who don't know where this is...it's a U.S. Territory out in the Pacific, we have Friday night drag races at the track which are $2 a race and are specifically for cars that do a 13.5 or slower (Saturdays are for the big boys or anyone who wants to race them). This helps to deter illegal drag racing out on the streets (the only ones who do this now are the cars that can't pass tech inspection). There is a great turnout for this weekly event which creates a very good competition. My list of fallen victims to my XB (the only XB that actually goes out to race - for now) includes:

Scion TC (automatic)
Honda Civic
Toyota Truck (older model)

It's a great event. I hope to put more victims on this list when I slap on my turbo kit.

Was the scion meant to race? That reminds me of a friend of mine that has an SRT4 Neon and would always get harassed by mustangs, camaros, even vettes!~ come on guys it's a Neon!

I think people should race compacts w/ other compacts. But the Scion xB isn't even a compact.. It's a subcompact. My car is an Echo ... subcompact too. I'd race an xB, hell yea

I beg to differ....Ive seen quite a few adults, those big kids that know better doing it. As far as street racing, yeah its stupid....but in So Cal...heck we use the sidewalks...its safer.

I work for Acura as a tech, so I am surrounded with Honda nuts.
Heck I even built one, but blah... another boring ride. These guys are doing engine swaps and going as
JDM as possible, and when it came time for the track, ran a 14.7.
Now to be fair that was their best time of three runs. At the same time these guys
are telling me that i'm wasting my time to try and build an xB. SCREW THAT! If all
you got is a 14.7 to back up your talk, well I suggest don't talk. Now I am on a
mission. I will be in the 13's by the end of 07, swear it! I will be posting the build
as it happens, and good luck to the rest of you guys.

Also, found an auto x course around here, but its once a month and everyone shows
up, you spend all day there for 2 runs, 8am-5pm. So, I will still be working on a
micrcompact only course in the miami area, just for the scions, yaris, fit, and
whatever others fit the mold to come run. I have some rescources but would love
other miami folk input on how to make it happen. Thanks!

^^^ back when we first started talkin about Boxes spanking a mildly built Acura GSR i was gettin flammed on by some dude sayin that it would never happen and look at me know.....with the bolt-ons i got now i can hang with a GSR with I/H/E way better then i did stock......even though a GSR would get me by like 2 1/2 - 3 car links in a quarter......which isnt tearable IMHO compared to the HP differences 180hp vs 108hp......give me 180 to match the GSRs 180 and it would prolly b murder......haha....but yea my onlee goal is to spank most of the civics/acuras down here in ATL once that is done ill be satisfied haha.......i will be running F/I by summer 07.......hopefully........

Not allowed to autocross the xB in S.Florida, and another guy has had the same problem in orlando. Crappy

final email from club guy:

Contact SCCA, go to this link, the phone number is at the bottom of the page

http://www.scca.org/Solo/Solo.asp?IdS=01B223-89DBE40&x=050|010&~=

Ask them what class the XB can run in, get something in writing. On the SCCA web
site it does not list the XB in the stock class group, it lists the other 2 Scion models.
This normally means the vehicle is not accepted for autocross. Just because some
places let them run by guessing as to what class they are in doesn't mean it is safe
to autocross.

last summer, when my xBs suspension was all stock, i went on a cruise with the Alaska motorsports club, when it came to the curves on the side of the mountain, i was keeping up with the ground, till we hit straight aways, they left me, My buddy in his VW GTI VR6 was supprised when he couldnt keep up with me and fell way behind......just cause its boxy, dosnt mean its easy to roll.....
