xB / xA Sheet Metal Intake Manifold..
I would like to see a variable intake (which the stock unit may be?), even if it was an adapted version of another factory manifold (Miata comes to mind...)

Doesn't Toyota use these on anything? A ton of other manufacturers do.
Anyway, my other thought was what if you join the runners for about half the distance of the runner, about 2/3 of the way up the runner. This is hard to describe without drawing it...you can kind of see what I mean here: http://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/te...meseport.shtml
They are joined 2 and 2 and then slowly split into one at the ends. Because of the way they are joined, at lower speeds the air is pulled along in the individual runner channels. At higher speeds, it can use the larger siamesed runner chamber created at the beginning of the runner tubes. This might be a sweet setup on the Scions.
Just a few random thoughts...

NOTE about above...the siamesed runners shown are amateur and a little excessive. I couldn't find a better pic. SLP Performance (www.slponline.com) makes a set that's much better for those cars.

it will make things worse.
as they found out, a plain manifold will loose power on a NA setup.
What he was saying about removing the internal baffles.... could you basically get inside the manifold with a drill and polish the insides out so the air flow is better on the stock one? I will have an extra stock intake once i replace my stock one because it has a crack right near the throttle body.

they didn't really find out that a stock manifold with baffles removed would lose hp...the found out that a sheetmetal manifold with similar runner lengths and without baffles lost hp. That's a very different thing.
I'm not saying it would help, just clarifying that no tests were done with a stock manifold with baffles removed.
