Default Blitz SC Belt replacement

I think that it was 8psixa who had said that the Blitz belt slips a lot. I think that he also mentioned somewhere that the replacement is 6pk1700, which you CAN find at Pep Boys despite their protests to the contrary. What you will not find is the proper 4pk1695 because that is some oddball size that Blitz had to special order. Blitz recommends cutting off two of the ribs from a six rib belt. Further, 1700 is close to 1695 (i think that it is the length in mm), so the 6pk1700 should work.

However, Goodyear makes a 6pk1695 in their Gatorback line, so I found one of those and trimmed off two ribs using a band saw. I just put it on tonight and it fits well. I have no idea about performance yet (will run high test for an autocross this weekend) and I cannot measure it with a boost gauge as 8psixa had done.

I recommend the 1695 length over 1700 because the belt that came with the kit stretched almost to the full extent of the tensioner. Hopefully, the Gatorback will not stretch so much.

I am keeping the first belt around as a spare. My xA just ate the power steering belt at the track this weekend, which I replaced, so I am paranoid now. need a spare power steering belt now too :/

EDIT: i think that it was blown_xa to whom i had referred above. not 8psixa. not certain and i will not be searching the forum to verify.

just a heads up, the Gatorback belt is ok for NA application but horrible for superchargers as the rubber is hard and the belt has low contacting surface area. You will sacrafice 10-15 hp when using that belt . No matter how tight u make it, it will slip. I went through every type of belt out there, the best one is the DRIVE RITE 6pk1700. It is soft grippy rubber so it minimizes slip, and It will last a long time. I've posted this like 8 times and I will keep posting it for anyone who asks again.

where did you find the drive rite?
i see drive rite on dayco's site. maybe pep boys carries it then. i only see the 6pk1700. too bad they do not make a closer fit.

i will pick up a 1700 from pep boys this weekend and try that out too. i will write back if i notice a difference.

btw, i think that it was you, blown_xa. i will adjust the op.

thanks
