Default F/I without CEL

for all those that have F/I such as the blitz sc kit, greddy sc kit, greddy turbo kit, power enterprise sc kit, etc. is there anyone out there that isnt throwing a cel and isnt having a problem with there kit? like is it really a bolt on that dat doesnt really cause any problems aside from being a gas killer? because i would really like a kit like that.....i think i wanna exclude ZPI from this since i believe they have there kit down pat but then again they're more then welcome to have a word in the topic ........

apparently they dont have many CELs but the video on their site of the guy driving the xB has it lit up like a christmas tree. Perhaps this was before they worked out the kinks...

You can run a CEL eliminator,

http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/8426/

# Reads engine trouble codes and can reset the "check engine" light

And it has 10 programable codes that can be sent to the ecu, i wonder if the ecu could be tricked into thinking that the afr at 13:1 (which triggers the "too rich" CEL) is not too rich.

Other than that you shouldnt have any problems with cel, unless like billy your not runnin with a cat.

metal112524,

If I were you I would get the greddy s/c it's only 2500.00 plus say 500.00 install and your done. I think the kit is carb pending. I got the blitz for 2995.00 because the greddy wasn't out yet. For 500 less you get almost the same thing. If I were to do it all over again or blow up the blitz unit I would get a greddy s/c.

Turbo is way harder install and alot more money, but it does put out more power. But if you want as much or more power than a turbo just add nitrous to your s/c. Turbo guys have intercoolers my intercooler is nitrous.

I guess when it comes down to it, its all about the money. Unfortunately when it comes to F/I there are no corners to cut, except installing it yourself. S/C just dont appeal to me, there is too much parasitic loss to psi and horse gains. I would love to spray, but only as an OH **** button when i see the guy pullin on me. haha

This is the thing EVERYONE needs to understand about going FI on a car that isnt meant for FI. If you go turbo or supercharger and you DONT throw a "too rich" CEL, then your car is not running right. The only way to get rid of that CEL is to go standalone. Anything richer than 13.0:1 afr will make the ECU want to trim the fuel. When it does that, its up to the tuner to add more fuel in to obtain the proper afr. At that point the ecu will trigger the CEL. If you guys want to go FI, then dont worry about the CEL.
