Default A possible fix for F/I ECU issues?

Where to start... I guess with the potential good news and then the questions.

I live 15 minutes from the Bosch plant. I actually worked there a while and have friends that still do. They make everything from sensors to ECU's at this place. I was discussing this AFR issue with a buddy there and he is going to see if he can get one of the engineers to flash my ECU with factory settings, only changing the "acceptable" AFR from 13-16 down to whatever I want. This would prevent our learning ECU from trimming.

Now the questions. What do I want? What is it that would make our cars stop throwing CEL's based on the computations done where the o2's read too rich? I'm assuming we could allow it to see 11-16 and be fine. We only need the rich side changed to allow for this added fuel and then if it was ever removed it would still be acceptiable. (Only thing is if it was running stock and rich you wouldn't know by the 'idiot lights') But, that's not the issue is it? lol

Anyone else want to chime in with ideas, suggestions, flames, etc? Any info I can give the engineer will help him determine the exact depth of this project. Thanks everyone!

...i dont know if they can relash, i have been working on this issue fr about 1.5 months now lol.

Toyotas encryption is TOP notch, and practically impossible to crack without some very expensive processing/ diagnostic tools (which this place may or may not have).

Send a PM to TurboToyotas (Todd). If this is possible, he would be able to give you a good idea of what parameters to shoot for. I have discussed this 100's of times with him lol.

Best of luck and keep all posted.

Thanks, I'll PM him about it. And I know they have the tools/general know-how to do this 'type of thing.' Trust me. The only thing I don't know is if they make our specific ECU so I'm waiting to hear back from them. Right now they are making/shipping ECU's for Toyota, Chevy, GM, Nissan, Subaru, +more I can't recall. So, it's a waiting game for me now, but I wanted to be prepared with information in the off chance this is a possibliity. Thanks again!
