Default sleaving block for more boost & power?

just wondering from the higher FI guys if you know of any sleeving kits for our block or is it a custom job? was thinking of something like a 1.8L sleeve.

You can sleeve the motor, but to get a 1.8L displacement is going to cost you some big $$$$. You'll have to have a custom crank/rods made. You won't be able to go from 1.5 to 1.8 just by running a larger bore.

But you can sleeve it, build it, upgrade your valvetrain, and be able get close to 400hp through the factory intake manifold. After that you will want to look into a custom intake manifold.

how about a sleeve with thicker cylinder walls? i hear part of the reason why we can't handle more 9-10psi is that the 1NZFE is a bored out version of an older 1.3L verion of this block thus why the walls are so thin and causes blowout... anything on that?

When you sleeve a block you are replacing the stock sleeves with thicker ones.

You can overbore a few mm 1 or 2 and still hav plenty of meat left for the future or accidents.

hmm... just wondering exactly what all it would take engine wise to get 15psi on this block. new rods, new internals obviously...

15psi with what turbo???...the amount of psi doesn't mean anything, as one turbo at 15psi will flow x cfm vs another turbo at 15psi with flow y cfm.

You can add rods/pistons and safely make 270-300whp....as long as you use a stand alone for fuel management.

You might get over 200 with a piggyback. The range of control they offer isn't there for much more than that...safely.

well 15psi with the GT2554R used for the ZPI and ofcourse your/Why Industeries's kit. i'm told it will produce around that much just fine and still be within it's efficiency range.

would stand alone have to reaplce the current system in the stock? and why can't piggy back produce the same amount of power? <--- asking to learn, not to be rude.

With piggy back you only get a range of adjustment, say +/- 20%. With a standalone you get 100%.

haha yes he's helped alot.

my only problem is... the registered address i have for my box now requires that i do emmisions tests when i get new tabs... so that may be a problem on a standalone settup i think, wont it?

Im going to be running with a camcon at first on my turbo setup. Ive seen it done on other Toyotas, but not sure how the xA will hold up if it works cool, if not then stand alone.

Todd: Do you have any recommendations on standalone ECU's???

Depends on how you set it up and how they do the testing. Here in AZ all they do is plug into your OBD2 port and scan for any issues. As long as you aren't throwing any codes you will be fine.

Do you know how they test for emissions?

Besides the big boys ( motec and autronic) the only option I have for you is the AEM EMS. There is an adapter available for it ;)

well i havn't had to do emissions yet, i've only had my box for... 3 - 4 months? so i hav't had to do an emissions test.

i just made a call in the middle of typing this though and they DO do emissions on the Dyno for anything thats a 96 and older which comming from someone who has a 94 Saturn SR coupe i would understand why i was being told they do Dyno's for emissions.

they just hook you up to the computer if your vehicle is newer then a 96.

i think you got your info wrong........its not a dyno its just so that da computer for the emisions machine can read how the car is doing when it is going a certain speed.......correct me if im wrong............have you ever taken a car to do emisions?

Yeah, they have a speed roller thing similiar to a dyno. However, all it does it keep the car stationary while keeping a load on the car at a certain speed. This is done for OBD I cars and carbed cars so they can make sure the emission equiment on the car if functioning properly. 96 and newer have OBD II the O2 sensors after the cat(s) to track the emissions, and if it is irregular it throws a code, hence the computer plug in.

yeah, i just did my emissions testing, here in md and i've had my tc since nov 04. all they were supposed to test is the gas cap, and an obdII scan and see if i had a cel.

they didn't even test my gas cap because it is leashed to the car, and i don't even know if they scaned my obdII, they just pulled it from the garage entrance to the exit and said, it was done after collecting my $14.
