Default $4 BACK Lighting for xB

I have been getting tired of at night NOT being able to see ANYTHING in the back of my BOX . But really DID NOT want to deal with WIRING up a New Roof Dome . I happened to be in Target and saw some $4 Closet lights (2) , I thought Hey I wonder if those would work ?
10min. later I had 2 lights in the Back part of the xB . Pictures are in my Profile , If anyone knows how to put those pics on this thread , Do it . I can not figure it out .
But like I said , It ONLY cost me $4 Total , and I now have LIGHTS ! I can SEE , in the DARK !

Man, I so thought about that. But I figured I'd take the
geek rout.

You can totally wire up a cold cathodes to the factory dome
light and have that turn on automatically. Though the
second dome light is a more elegant solution for sure.

I was looking at those big bubble lights that you press the
top of and they light up...AS SEEN ON TV! LOL I was going
to paint the base BOP to match the box and maybe it would
blend in a bit better...

You're looks OK, maybe don't like the placement much.

That's cool! I love simple & cheap solutions. Has anyone looked into changing the current dome light fixture to a better performing one? I don't want to have to run new wires anywhere, but if I used the existing mount, maybe a different one in the same spot would work better. Anybody try that?

Yeah, for four bucks, not a bad solution. What's it on there w/ double sided tape? I like that write up on the cargo area dome light someone did a while back but yeah, much more work. Anyway, the cargo area and the front seats both seriously need more light.

J/K

Nice mod. I thought about doing that, or putting some kind of LEDs back there, but I'm lazy.

HAHAHA
Yeah a Flash Light would work too .
I know about the placement , but it ALSO where I didnt have to " make a hole " OR
" use 2 sided tape " that would leave a mess if EVER I get around to something PERMENENT .
ALL I did was get some WIRE and thread it through the cover . The wire " Inside " the Light Fixture is just a " T " shape using a stick . Its ankered in really tight and it DOESNT move around . I know its the BEST of Other Solutions , But its NOT PERMENENT .
I like the IDEA of changing the OEM DOME with another MORE Illuminating . That also would not require ANY new wiring , which I obviously like .
But 1 day I might like this TEMP solution , I`ll just change it

Do you mean wire to hold the light fixture in place or a T connection to a wire that provides power to the light?

I know I am slow but I need to know...

A $4 solution would fit in my current budget.

Are there batteries in that light? If so, how long would they last in the hot sun?

No Dont worry ,
I see that I FORGOT some words , it was late ..
I just made a " T ANCHOR" by TIE-ING a piece of a " Stick " at the END of a
" Wire " - And Actually , on the OTHER SIDE , I ONLY used a String and NOT wire . The " T " was put in the " HOLE " where the screws would fasten , to anchor the LIGHT to the Removable trap .
This light takes 3 AA batteries , and I just did it so I havent had ANY hot days YET . But HOPEFULLY they will last a GOOD amount of time , since I dont need the
" back LIT UP " ALL the time .
There were ALSO OTHER lights that used " COLD " so maybe those would last longer . I just grabbed these out of DESPERATION , They were there and it was DARK . I just wanted something that work FOR NOW . An OVERHEAD dome Actually would NOT work for me . Since I have the CARGO COVER on , where I needed to see WOULD STILL BE IN THE DARK .
So , SOME OTHER day , I might get DIFFERENT lights OR maybe go PERMENENT . There are ALWAYS New and Better BULBS coming out .

I had No Idea that a Really Hot SUN would kill the batteries as fast as they did . So I guess Im luckily Every Day isnt Extremely Hot . I really dont want to do a bunch of wiring .
But LIGHT IS NEEDED !!!
Its amazing How JAPAN did SO MANY things right , but forgot about LIGHTING ..
