Default '05 versus '06 Steering Wheel

I just noticed the other day that the '06 steering wheel has the audio controls in it. Has anyone with an '05 changed out their steering wheel to the '06? Just wondering if possible. Thanks!

ya you would have to do some mad kind of wireing to get it to work with the after market head unit. i just like the way it looks better then the ugly shape the 05's have. looks kind of like a rim..

In theory it could be done. Lots of aftermarket head units offer adapters for steering wheel controls. As far as running wiring, you'd need the 06 wheel with the stock harness and tap that to the head unit... I'm quite sure that's over simplified, but, it could probably be done.

What if you have the Scion upgrade 6 disc changer, would it require re-wiring?

i've done the steering wheel swap.. so i KNOW it's possible.

the audio controls will work with the 6-disc, btw

but nonetheless it does require wiring.
