I'm not familiar with the Pioneer so I did some searching on the web. It looks like they are two totally different concepts.

The Pioneer is extremely heavy like 69lbs!! But will also handle ALOT of power and get really loud with a sacrifice of sound quality(Don't read this as sounding bad, just not a sound quality woofer.).

I have a 12w6v2 and it is a good all around sub with incredible linearty and sound quality. It prolly weighs half of what the Pioneer does, and won't handle the power of the Pioneer(The JL is rated at 400-500watts for optimum performance and reliability). It also won't get as loud either.

It all depends on what you want. The Pioneer looks like a great sub. If you just want tons of bass, go with the Pioneer but remember that in our cars, that much weight(sub and box) is really going to hurt the performance of our little underpowered cars(Yes....even the Tc ). PLUS if you plan on giving that sub the power that it will require to get loud then you will definately need to upgrade your electrical system and that will also be expensive and could add alot more weight if you plan on adding another battery too.

Everyone knows that the JL is a great sub and has many reviews and customers to back that up. One of the best for sound quality. I don't do sound-off's, so the 12W6 works great for me and I prolly could have been happy with a smaller/cheaper 12" or even a 10", because the JL is still a heavy speaker. It gets plenty loud for me(I'm not a basshead though, it might not be enough for someone else).

WOW, I didn't plan on writing a book!!! I hoped this helped some.
