18" Subwoofers
Hey, all! I just got my two Eclipse 10" subs installed and I will be putting up pics tonight, but I want to know if anyone around here has put an 18" subwoofer in the spare tire well in the back of an xA/xB? I LOVE the bass that the 10"ers put out (They use 400w RMS much better than my old 10" L7 did), but I find myself wanting more and incredibly obnoxious bass. That is because I HATE the tourists/Bennies that come in from the city every weekend to flood our streets with their big a$$ SUVs so they can go to the "Jewesey Shoare"... And well, I live/love to ____ them off since our area is pretty much a total ghetto, yet they feel the need to come and overcrowd us and make a 5 mile trip down the street into an hour and a half... I'm not out for SQ obviously since I'm looking at 18"ers and am planning to pump about 800w RMS to an MA Audio MA1800XL. What would be the best way of mounthing this. An infinite baffle using the stock plate? Custom made sealed tirewell box (Probly from Quarterwave), or whatever other ways might work. Thanks for any suggestions! And if your from NYC, we're cool as long as you don't come down to the shore every weekend...
infinite baffle setups are built in a car that has a trunk not a hatchback, it uses the trunk space as the enclosure.
you can also have a true infinate baffle if the sub or subs is vented to the outside making the car the actual enclosure.
Are you aware of how much airspace an 18" needs and also how much depth they have? usually 8" or more so it might be hard to fit it in a spare tire well with enough airspace.

Xbox with 200gig HDD that will soon be under the driver seat connected to two visor monitors:

And Yes, that is a traffic light in the back... Don't ask...
The enclosure fit PERFECTLY for both the height under the tonneau cover and contoured to the backs of the seats:
