Default 2006 Clarion MAX675VD

http://www.clarion.com/us/en/product...643389338.html

Based on the features of this unit, I personally think its going to be a hit compared to other double din units.

Unlike many double dins out there, this one has a 7" screen instead of the typical 6.5".

It comes with a hard drive based navigation instead of dvd, which makes it quicker.

It has the best iPod integration. It has a virtual on screen iPod. You cant get any better than that.

What do u guys think?

Looks like its got a ton of great features, the built in harddrive is always nice, and a 6-disc changer(if i read it correctly). I would say if you like it then get it ,should be a really nice unit to have. But what is the price on it?

From how I'm reading the description on Clarion's website, most of that is optional. The HDD nav. is optional with no mention of the unit itself having a HDD. The 6-disc changer is an add-on as well. The unit integrates with all of the various components to make it feel seemless and all included in the head unit. If all that is correct, then this would make a great unit for any Scion.....especially mine. You can start out with just the unit, then add the changer, then navigation, then headrest monitors. Just like Scion intends with the accessories, add on a little at a time. Should help to spread the cost out and make it easier to swallow. Couldn't find a price mentioned anywhere....only that release to consumers is planned mid '06.

Thanks for finding this xknowonex. I was trying to decide between pioneer and eclipse, but after seeing the Clarion MAX675VD I think there's a new leader in the pack for me.......if the price is reasonable.

Oh geez, I typed way too much. Sorry for the novel all.

I'd like to purchase a double-din unit and need great audio quality, as well as good screen-quality for DVDs.. does anyone have this, or another double din they would recommend?

I have this unit in my 07 TC, I love it, looks nice and sounds nice, very clean looking unlike other units that have buttons everywhere. I had the 765VD so Im kinda partial to Clarion products.

I dont have the navigation yet.

I have it hooked up to Polk db6500's in the front and DB5250's in the back[/img]

The "Base" price for this unit is 1999.99 and comes with all the things below as listed at the top of the page.

*DVD±R/DVD±RW/CD-R/CD-RW/VCD ready
*MP3/WMA compatible with ID3-TAG display
*18 FM / 6 AM station presets
*DSP tuner with variable bandwidth
*iPod direct connection and control
*2-Zone entertainment: Front and Rear separate source control
*24-bit D/A converter
*3-band parametric equalizer
*50 W × 4 Built-in MOS-FET Amplifier
*Fully motorized 7-inch QVGA color LCD monitor
*Touch panel control with soil-resistant finishing
*Adjustable display brightness
*Phone mute
*1 AUX AV input (2 ch audio + video)
*Video output for rear entertainment
*6 ch RCA output and 2 ch RCA output for 2-Zone
*CCD camera direct input
*CeNET Control of: Navigation, DVD Changer, 5.1-channel decoder, TV tuner, 6-*disc CD changer and Satellite receiver
*1 optical output
*RGB input for navigation

All the fetures below that as upgrades for more money also if you want the ipod upgrade you still have to buy the cabels to connect it. This goes for all brands of just about every head unit and is not limeted to DVD systems. My suggestion is to find a company that is authorized to sell this product and start to haggle things like the cables and the install that is the only way to save money. In the I.C.E. world it is best to buy from an authorized dealer then from the actual company.

I bought mine off of ebay brand new unopened for $600 plus like $20 shipping from Electric_mart. I bought my single ding 765vd from them as well. Fast shipping, good packaging, I recommend them! Save the $400 off retail that you would pay at crutchfield or something and use that money to buy a tv tuner and navigation! I promise you wont be dissapointed!

I personally like the clarion and wish to upgrade to the double. The built in IPOD controller is a big plus IMO especially since it also has the ability to play video off your ipod. I liked just having to buy a cable instead of an extra unit and have to mount it somewhere like the other decks.

The cover will close but you will have to drill new holes in the stereo brackets, it took me a bit to get it to work, you will only get two holes to work but someindustrial strength two sided tape and black tapes makes up the rest of the sturdiness. Solid as a rock!

I have the Clarion MAX675D with the navigation and love it. The one drawback to Clarion is everything is optional, and they charge a lot for each option(iPod cable, Navi, 5.1 processor, TV tuner, TV antenna(yes it is separate), etc...)

Here are a few pics of it:

iPod interface

DVD Player

Best pic I could get of the Navi

If you want to take a gamble buy it on eBay(I did) being less than half the price of retail, even if you have to buy 2, you still come out ahead...

I was wondering if it is worth paying $70 more for the vdII or is there not a big difference between the VD and VDII?

There are two main differences for the version II:

1. As with other 2007 models, it accepts the Clarion BLT370 bluetooth adaptor for intgration with bluetooth phones.

2. It has a port for hardwired steering wheel control interface. I had to wire up a PAC IR version to connect to my version I.

All the other functionality is identical between the two.

Save the cash and get the VD version I. I'm sure you can put the $70 towards another mod.
