Im purchasing a 2006 tc and im definitely getting the ipod connector....except, im trying to figure out how it will work...does it just play through the speakers...does the song title show up...will the ipod screen show up on the scion face....can i adjust songs without using the ipod itself....thanks for your help...

have you talked to the dealership yet about it? i just got my 06 a couple of days ago and i wanted the ipod upgrade but they didn't know when it was going to be available. suppose to call back today.

there is a aux connector that you can hook your ipod up to with the stock stereo but you'll have to control the music through the ipod. the upgrade will let you access your ipod through the dash.

let me know if your dealership has it in already or what time frame they gave you.

If you have the ipod head unit, what kind of ipod do you have? my tC has the ipod stereo installed, but my ipod isn't working with it. Kinda frustrated and confused. My software is updated on the ipod, and i bought it in 2/04. I mean... it's a year old, but it's not THAT old, not even the first model they had I don't think. Any pointers or troubleshooting?

 

I believe the supplimental manual that I got with the head unit stated that there was a certain iPod software version or higher required to get it to work. You can download the latest iPod update from Apple directly at the following location:

Looks like the latest iPod software was released on 6-26-2005. I would try updating your iPod then see if it works or not. I have the iPod Photo 60GB, and its worked ever since I got it.

 

When I want to order my 06 NBM, the dealer was talking to me about the iPod Stereo.

He said that the iPod says "welcome to scion" when you hook it up. has anyone seen/have pics of this?

Is there a "dock" for the ipod, or simply just a cable?

From the two pictures posted, does the cable come out of the cup holders or that compartment?

 

well what you get with the ipod option is a upgraded head unit, a "port" in the center console and a cabel to connect your ipod to the port so it can be controlled though the new HU.

you could get a dock from apple (or other 3rd party) and connect it to the cabel included and now you have a dock for you ipod in the car... but i wouldnt recomend it unless you find a good way of mounting the dock so the ipod doesnt slip and disconnect from the dock.


and the cord is ony in the center compartment.... unless you do the install your self and put it some place else...

is this an option on the 06 xB's? if so can I somehow get it installed on my 05? also is it ipod only or will it work for other mp3 players? say the Dell Jukebox.

 

on the tC there is an aux connector that will connect to any headphone jack. but you will have to control it through that device.

not sure about the xA & xB but im sure its the same

 

Dude, I've been calling every dealership in my area to get the 06 head unit and wires installed in my 05 tC. Apperantly I'm the first one who wants it around here. The one I talked to just today seemed like he wants to help me, so I'll post when I hear something back, I'll try and ask him about the xbs and xas too.
