I have a new set-up in mine, So I pulled out the stock quite some time ago.
From what I can recall it was just two. 2 sets of car wires and one from the ipod to the console. and one from the console to the ipod.
Maybe I'm not remembering it right.

Thanks for the reply Frosty, I went to Toyota of Southern Maryland today for my lunchbreak and the folks in the parts department looked in the computer for the part number of what I need.

Here's the scoop.

For 2006 and the 2006.5 update, Scion added iPod functionality to the upgraded stereo as well as steering wheel controls for the radio. Instead of reengineering the whole electircal wiring harness, Scion/Toyota added the ipod wire that plugs into the back of the radio and taped it to the main wiring harness. So basically, they used the 2005 wiring harness and taped 2 new wires on it, one for the ipod and one for the connection to steering wheel controls.

Here's the real bad part, the 2 new connectors do NOT have individual part numbers. Instead, the wiring harness has 1 part number in totality. I can order the whole wiring harness at around $1500, d0h!

So, the wire I need is taped in two spots, one near each connector of every 2006 scion. All I need is a friendly fellow forum member to sell me one, or to find one in a junk yard (good luck).

ugh, why can't this be easy?!

Whoa man... what kinda wires are we talking about here? Hell you could set up your own wiring system if you had pinouts and diagrams for the whole shebang couldn't you?

sakko,

honestly, all it is is a wire that has a male plug on one side to insert into the back of the 06 iPod HU and then a few feet of wire to wire it down the center console, and a connector on the other to hook up to the center console connector part #PT546-21060. This wire, the factory ipod connector cord (for lack of a better name) is taped to the main wiring harness.

As for the wiring diagram, I asked the dealer if they had any digrams and they said no. Basically, if something is broke they just take it out and replace it. It's too expensive for toyota/scion to troubleshoot and train techs. So, they just trash broken units.

If I had a wiring diagram I could indicidually wire the pins or find the connectors somwhere and wire it myself. However, that's a total long shot right now.

I'm still hoping someone will pop in this thread and sell me the wire out of their 2006!

I hear ya Frosty. I really don't want to hunt down a totaled 2006 Scion and HOPE that this wire is still in it. Ugh.

Ok folks, where are the people who own 2006 Scion's who have upgraded their Head Units to aftermarket HU's? I need your factory iPod connector cable!

I have 2 differnt types of adapters that will hook directly to all scions

IPOD2CAR-charges and has direct connection to your ipod with basic controls
AUX2CAR which will give you female rca's to hook up anything your heart desires

PM me if you are interested

You'll need Part # 08600-21802.

That's the Toyota part number for the 2006 upgraded iPod Head unit, owners manual, Customer iPod cord, and the Console connector.

Hey, I'm going to do this mod on my RS1 xB. I need the cables from iPod to the head unit or if you know anyone selling their head unit with all of their cables then send them my way. Private Message me here or send me an AIM to JMurias.

Thanks ScionLife
