Default 2006 XB - Help wiring an amp!!!

So I've searched and searched and searches - but I'm not finding a clear answer...here's the deal:

2006 XB w/ standard head unit. (No iPod control)

I've installed an amp and a sub. I need to connect the following wiring behind the head unit:

1. Remote Turn on lead for the amp.
2. Rear speaker leads for the high-level inputs.

I can't figure out which wires to splice/cut to get these connections! I found an XB wiring diagram on this board, but it's from 2004 - it says to use the Power Antenna lead on the harness for the remote turn-on lead for the amp - but the "Red/Black" wire it refers to isn't there!

help!

use a test light and try to see which connection on the car gives you 12volts when you turn the key. the accessory wire will do you fine. As for the rear speakers take the stuff out your trunk and take two plastic plugs on each side of the plastic cover over the trunk latch out. Then pull the panels back with the speakers behind them and check the wire colors. hope this helps

Well, I don't have a test light. As for the wiring color at the rear speaker termination, I don't think it's the same color there as it is at the back of the head unit.. But eff it - I'm of to Pep Boys for a test probe.

it should be if not just use the wires going to the rear speakers. its a shorter rca run anyways.

Damn - PepBoys and RadioShack are both closed.

I suppose I can tap the rears at their location. But that still doesn't solve my remote-turn-on lead problem...

Update: I still can't find which wire to attatch the remote lead - so I just ran it straight to the battery for a test.

I found the rear speaker wires, but I still don't know what the polarity is. I guessed, and I got some output from the sub, but it was very weak.

A 2006 XB wiring diagram, or a seasoned installer would help me out a GREAT deal right now!

Default How To...

this will solve all your problems....
go to you local audio shop and get the TRUNK-LOC from PAC or order it from
www.pac-audio.com
this is a low output converter (high to low) with a amplifier remote turnonoutput. The stock head unit does not have this ouput.
in order to find the correct polarity, look at the actual rear speaker. if you are looking at the rear of the speaker with the wire connections on the bottom of the magnet, the terminal on the right is the posative (+) wire. if you don't want to do this, then cut the wire going to the speaker. touch one end of the wire to the posative side of a D size or "like" battery and the other wire to the negative side just quick enough to hear a "pop". Look at the speaker as you do this. If the speaker moves outward, then the wire on the posative terminal of the battery is the posative audio wire. If it moves inward, then revers the wires. if you need more help, let me know. Sorry for the typos....

So I got the harness in the mail today, and just installed it. Wow. What a great little harness. I could have made it myself, but it was well worth the extra cash. Sub sounds great, no cut wires, stock head unit. All is right with the world, folks...

What specific harness, and from where?

Kinda jumped ahead on us, tough to follow...
