Angry AC and Heat Do Not Work

I got some water by the blower motor which seem to have shorted out the resistor and the AC and heat would only work on high. Well after my brother-in-law told me what was wrong and how to fix it some 4-5 months later I finally got to replacing the resistor which was rusted and blown. The problem not is that the week before I had the chance to replace the resistor even using the AC on high stopped working. Today I replaced the resistor and tried the AC and heat but still nothing. Could it be that the blower motor finally went since I was always running it on high because while last week when I was trying to see if it would work again some smoke came through the vents and it smelled like something just fried itself (kinda metallic smell). Also note that I will check the fuses tomorrow to see if any of them are blown but I don't think so.

If the resistor is working properly should I try replacing the blower motor to see if that gets the a/c and heat working again?

There are couple of recent threads about the blower going bad, checking and replacing it. They'll help if you want to do it yourself.
