Default air vent help

I just broke my girlfriends air vent last night. It might not be broken but its fallen out of its spot. It's the vent right behind the steering wheel on the right. Its now fallen all the way in. I can grab it but i can't figure out how it goes back in. Can anyone help? i can almost take off the whole gray cover but something is stopping it on the bottom. that would make it a lot easier. its a 2006 xa. thanks

Since nobody replied. Here's my 2 cents LOL

Hmm...my wife has an xA, but is gone for a couple of days with her car. Lets see if I remember.
If your trying to remove the center console (whole gray cover) the long sides of the vent cover/console, there are clips on the bottom to keep them in place. You should be able to kinda pull them off or carefully pry them off + if everything else like the vent ****/screws have been taken out of the center console if needed.

I can't recall if the air vents are the same as my xB, but this is what we do to fix ours. The vents on out xB do kind move at times if not aligned properly. I hope I can explain this.
Now if your vent do not look like this these instructions of course it will not apply for the xA
1. Pull out the vent capsule + look at how it kinda operates + moves on the axis ( like a Atlas map globe in school).
2. Now look at the other vents to see which side of the vent capsule are facing out towards you.
3. Note on the axis of the vent capsule there are 2 points( one on each side) that you see small round peg that stick out. Only one side of the small pegs should have a square plastice nut over the peg ( sometimes the square nut may fall off + get lost thus causing a re install problem, we will talk more about this later) These are the points that need to reset your vent capsule in to the vent hole.
4. Now look in the xA vent hole sides, you will see a indent for the pegs to snap into. One side of the vent hole will be square cut out for the peg with the square nut + the other side will be just a round hole. Match + Now insert your vent capsule in the hole + then pull forward. They should snap back in.

5. Now if your missing the required square nut on the air vent capsule peg. What is use is the Red 3M double side tape cause the adhesive is black/stronger. I first place the air vent capsule in the hole + I cut out small pieces of the 3m tape to cover the air vent insert hole, then pull forward the capsule to snap/fit in the insert hole. They seem to hold in place.

Good Luck........

Big help! Thanks. I didn't get to do it yet but it's the retainer clip that's missing. That's why I couldn't get it in. I will try to fish it out of the vent

So I got around to it. The clip is missing but I just did a temp fix with the tape. Now the issue is I can't get it back together. I've done many stereo installs on many different cars but for some reason I couldn't get this back together. Something is blocking it but I can't figure out what. It was driving me nuts. Is there something I'm missing?
