i was thinking about getting a viper alarm with the pager option or even the lo-jack with early warning.

Well basically any alarm will do. I went with the Matrix 2.5 without remote start. Its a two-way alarm so it'll page you if your alarm goes off. Its the same as the Viper one since they are both made by DEI. It just depends on how much you want to spend. I worked at Best Buy so i got mine for 200. So I would say go with Clifford alarms

Newer clifford, python, and viper are made by the same company... You will probably lose/break your remote or even sell your car befoer you will have a problem with it... if it was installed properly that is.

For 450 you can probably get the top of the line pieces with pager and remote starts... and for as little as ~250 you can get the entry level alarm...
