Default Alarm questions

Hey folks,
I was wondering about my alarm install. When the alarm is disarmed, the parking lights go on, that means my gauges are lit too. Is that normal after an alarm install?

Also, let's say I lock my doors manually from the driver side switch. If I arm the car (or auto-arm after 30 seconds), it locks again. If the disarm it, it doesn't unlock (although it tries ??). If I do the same thing with the passenger side, it's unlocks fine when disarmed.

I'm not saying my installer did a crap job, but maybe doesn't know the wiring?

I noticed this in the tech section:

*1 Meter these wires while turning the key in the driver door key cylinder. Unlock requires a double pulse. Can also use the passenger door key cylinder wire for unlock, which only requires a single pulse. It is blue/red (-) in the passenger kick in a 14 pin plug.
Does that have to do anything?

Thanks!
