Almost had cold cathode dash lighting
Until they snapped.
Anyway, from what I've noticed, a dual 4" setup would be ideal, and the wiring is super easy. The hard part, and the reason why the lights broke, is trying to find the best position for them. I wedged a single bulb between the tan plastic piece that holds the original bulbs, and the main part of the console, under the light dispersion thing. The result was very similar to a poorly aimed LED setup. I'm wondering if the clear plastic thing should be removed and replaced with the cathodes themselves. That would probably be the cleanest install. Now it's back to searching for 4" white cathodes, which are almost impossible to find.
I have 1 4" in there. The middle is super bright, but the edges are a bit dimmer. I had to grind the blocks off the ends of the tubes to make it fit because the cathode lamp wouldn't come out of the plastic housing.
