Of course youve talked with Pioneer! How could I forget that irrefutable arguement. You didnt, by any chance, take note of any #'s for proof, did you? Or was it just you being pitched on the unit and being sold?
Once again...since youre not quite picking up what im throwing down. FOr what i'm looking for. Alpines solution is FAR superior....its more powerful, easier to control, trusted name, and the ABILITY to make playlists on and off the go for what I want to hear...sounds alot better to me, for the money in comparison to a unit that you dont even really know about and just the fact that its a 7 inch monitor is going to jack the price up to over a G...maybe less on e-bay...if youre willing to wait.

dude do u read what I type?

the pioneer unit hooks up to any IP-Bus ready Pioneer head unit there is over 3 million out there...

second yes I called Pioneer today

I very specifically asked if there was any need for special playlists or if it had a 255 song limit...

the answer was no

third the manual is online http://www.service.pioneer-eur.com/peeservice/RegistrInstrMan.nsf/(CountDownloadinInstructionManuals3)?openagent&ID=0666CA6FFA5FFF24C1256FAB00362261&Attachment=CZR2983_CD-IB100.pdf

and makes no mention of playlist or the 255 song limit...

and the fact that it can be used with virtually any of their headunits ever made makes this way more affordable then any of alpines solutions...

"dude" maybe your not reading what youre typing and realizing the fallacy of it!? You keep chanting all this extra stuff about how its compatible with every pioneer head unti, this that and the other...but nevermind the fact that alot of people JUSt DONT LIKE PIONEER! You admitted yourself the Alpine was more powerful then the pioneer and clarion both. Thank you for verifying my arguement for me.
One other thing youre missing is that the KCA solution is ONLY slow if you try and scrll thru the WHOLE list all at once. The 255 song playlist has NO slowing at all, and whos going to have a problem with making a playlist comprised of all different songs they want to hear on any particular day. seems to me, most people with a large library of music and expansive tastes, as most normal humans do...theyre going to be making playlists ANYWAYS. So making a 255 song playlist (which is WAY more then needed for most people) is MORE then enough.
And lets not forget availability..something the pioneer solution is not
Also, heres a few INconveniences on the pioneer, which you so lovingly fight for...
About ipod settings (found on thumbnail 4 of 69)
-you cannot operate the ipod equalizer on the pioneer products. We recommend you set the ipod eq to off, before connecting the ipod to this unit. (great, so the prset ipod eq's I assign to certain files now has to be REset MAyBE if my pioneer HU has that ability. If it doesnt have that ability, as the Scion stock unit DOESNT, then i'm going to havE to buy a head unti that does...their goes the affordability aspect)
-You cannot set repeat to off or on, on the ipod when using this product. repeat is changed to all automatically ...
(thanks for determining for me what songs or files I wanna listen to, nevermind the fact I may want to hear a song or file twice)
I'm sure I could find more if I dug around for a little.
Did i mention also the power and convenience of the control clusters on the alpine...do i HAVE to say anymore?

uh all pioneer head units that I've ever seen have a customizable EQ and I would much rather use this EQ over the crap iPod built in one...the one I've got in my car right now lets me set the EQ curve...the deepest and easiest HU i've ever seen...the Scion Head Unit is just that a Scion Head Unit designed by Pioneer

I dont see the relevance of this? you wanna hear a song twice hit the back button on the head unit...

Again I look at the price to power to need ratio for everything...Pioneer is a hugely adaptable system not to mention one of the cleanest interfaces of head units out there...and very nice clean birght easy to read OEL display to boot...

1) From what i've read, it JUST became available this month and its their first crack at an ipod solution.
2)Once again, you wanna argue affordability and having a solution for those who just want to run their ipod thru the HU....cost of this piece alone is 140.00 plus an HU with an EQ...im not sure what a decent pioneer HU costs, im sure its somewhere in the 200 range, maybe more (the alpines KCA is only 99.00..which of course youd have to buy a Alpine HU for...which by the way id rather buy because alpine isnt JUST one of the more trusted brands, it IS the MOSt agreed upon trusted brand in the industry for average buyers as well as competitve buyers)
as far as clean bright interfaces on the pioneer, thats subjective and not even worth my time

What does that have to do with it...they didnt rush it out they waited and tested it out and made sure it was a good solution

actual price I've seen it for is 119.99 at best buy and as low as 89.99 on the web...

haha, we'll see how much that holding off period helps when it falls on its face and ends up mediocre stock as does most of pioneers equiptment. And even if you bought the unit "on the web" whatever that means, its still not as inexpensive as the Alpine unit which can be found on ebay for 75.00

Whats the point in fighting over this junk? You asked a question and people gave their opinions on what to buy. Some people love Alpine, some people love pioneer. Both companies make great products and both companies make some crappy products. I myself love Pioneer Premier headunits and I just purchased my 3rd deck and couldnt be happier. I also have 2 Alpine amps and they are equally great. Crutchfield only shows a $20 price difference between the two ipod interfaces which isnt really anything. Next thing you know you'll be fighting over the dimensions of these units (yes the pioneer one is half the size) =).
