Which amp for 10" alpine typeR
I was wondering if anybody could reccomend me a decent amp for Alpine type-r 10" SWR-1022D
-10" component subwoofer
-Sensitivity: 85 dB
-RMS Power Range : 50-500 Watts
-Peak Power Handling: 1500 Watts
-Impedance: Dual 2 Ohm
-Low Frequency response: 26 Hz
-High Frequency Response: 500 Hz
-Kevlar-reinforced pulp cone
-Cast aluminum frame with perimeter venting
-Dual 2-ohm voice coils
I am looking to get 2 of these subs and i would like to have an amp for each subwoofer itself. so i am looking to get 2 of the same amps to power each sub by itself. Then a seperate amp for the speakers but thats later on thanx in advance for help

If you can get hooked up with Alpine amps I would get the Alpine mono amps... more specifically, the MRD-M605. It puts out 600watts RMS and yes, i know the recommended RMS for the 10" Type R is 50-500 but trust me... Alpine subs need a LOT of power and can take a beating. Hooked up price (Alpine accomadation from Best Buy) would be around 200-300. Which is not bad for an Alpine amp. If you pay retail... look at paying ~800-1000. Just my $.02

my bro has two alpine type r 12" in his car and he has a sony xplod 760 watt amp. i know you hear alot of crap about xplod amps but his powers BOTH of his subs and you're able to hear him coming from blocks away...btw thats on the middle setting on the amp. if you wanted more you could always turn it up. hope that helps. price is reasonable and power is great

Yes it does matter....depending on wether you have single or dual voice coil subs and what impedence(ohm) each VC is will determine what impedance your amp needs to be stable at.
For example, with (1) Dual VC 2ohm sub as listed above, you'll want an amp that puts out it's full RMS power at 1ohm or at 4ohm mono, or at 2ohm stereo. A lot of amps aren't stable at 1ohm so you HAVE to pay attention to this...You achieve different ohm loads by the way you wire the subs...

that will give you wiring options for a certain number and impedance of subs/VC's
For the original poster:
You need an amp that is 1000x1 at 2ohm mono.... That would be the way I would go...
you could also have 2 amps that are each 500x1 at 1ohm mono....
and about the xplod amps: I had a 1000x1 at 1ohm mono running a Fosgate HX2 and hit 150.4db....they do very well....
