The fuse on the power cable should be equal or lesser capacity as the amp fuse. The shorter your power wire is the smaller the awg you can use. seven inches coulnt possibly too long for a ground wire could it?
Ive only gone through one fuse, i'll give it one more fuse and it blows it I'll retire the amp and go back to the stock scion sound.
Thank you everyone for the advice

right OVER-Fusing is a big no no

so what happens right now when you try to replace the fuse? Does it still burn out?

get rid of the blade fuse holder and grab an AGU fuse and use a 30amp fuse. and its true about the 8gauge I would definitly change to either 10gauge or go 4guage so if you want to upgrade your amp to a bigger one you wouldn't have to spend for anothe kit.

The fact that the fuse burned up instead of popping is the fuse's fault not your amp's. Another fuse SHOULD just pop, so don't worry about it . However, another fuse will just pop, so that is where my advice ends and this whole thread starts.

is this a problem i should worry about or should i just replace the fuse and forget about it?

Thanks
So have you tried a new fuse yet? I assume your fuse was on the amp and not inline? If so that is never good if it blows there. Usually means somthing let loose in the amp. Try the new fuse and see what happens. I would be ready to disconnect the power from the front fuse if you see smoke.

I replaced the fuse in the amp with a 20 and i switched the fuse in the wire to a 15, and listened for two separate hours today, at first there was some cutting out, for a second, then everything was normal and no problems YET...
I have not looked inside the amp, im not taking it out of the car accept to throw it in the lake :p

The 15 fuse that i put in the wire blew (in a normal fashion) today after some fairly heavy bass for about 25 minutes. what should I do now?

well.....it sounds like you kind of want to throw the amp in the lake.......so put a 25 in the wire and in the amp and have some fun......

Lake... definately the lake... baseball bat first..
ok ok, any suggestions on what amp I should get? The closer to $100 the better but nothing over $220...
The sub I have is 400watt rms whats a good amp wattage for that?

i think in order calculate fuse size you divide the rms watts by the voltage then you step it up to the next bigger size fuse beings they say fuses are only designed for 80 percent of their rating constantly so a 20 amp fuse is only good for 16 amps constant load so if you had a 200 watt rms amp you would do 200/12 and get 16.6 amps of draw so i would use a 25 beings thats right on the edge
