Default Is this an amp under my seat ?

Hey guys, I got my box used and for the last 2 yrs the little black thingie under passanger seat annoyed the ____ outta me. Don't know if it'r an amp or what but one of the connections (left connector under battery sign) is loose and it's constantly loosening to the point that left side of speakers don't work.
Can I get rid of this thing ? How would I unhook it so that speakers will play just off the factory radio ? there's a lot of wires comin out of the carpet into that thing, what do I do about them ?
I don't care that it might lower quality of the sound, just want it gone, sub will go under seat anyway and complete audio system is in the process.

Yes it is a amp.

If you wont to remove it from the system you will likely not notice a hugh differance in sound. But you will notice it slightly. This is a pretty small amp.

If you wont to remove it i might sudgest you take it to a audio shop or have a friend help whp understands audio, since it seems you dont have much knowledge with audio.

And to remove it and put it back to the original state would be a fairly big job.

On a side note i see your in Toronto. In only about 2 hours from you so if you do wont to remove it let me know i may be able to help you with that.

And on a second side note (hahaha) are you in to the show sceen? Let me kown if you are attending any i will try to meet up with you. Its always cool to hang around with another Ontario Scion owner!

Lol, I have absolutely no experience dealing with audio
But I want to learn and do everything myself, before the year ends I wanna rip everything off the car, sound deaden everything, install new speakers and amp and run new wires
This will b very interesting, but I'd rather learn then spend big $$$ and don't know what was actually done to the car.

Hey what show ? is there a show Scions are attending in Canada ?

A quick removal would be to unplug the power and aux plugs and wrap with tape, Take your high level inputs (these come from the deck) and splice them to the same colours on the speakers outputs (these go to the speakers), Take the rest of the wires and stash them under the carpet. Not the safest but quick and easy!

The safer way would be to remove the power wiring from the source where it is wired to. If you will be installing an amp for the sub, You wll need to run power wire and will want to upgrade it to a lower guage than that. As for the AUX plug it looks like a remote +power wire but I don't know what the Grey/Black and White/Brown and White Blue wires are, they might be for a remote gain control or something????

Hope that helps

Do what Canxb said!!!!

And we have a get togeth atleast once a year. There is no scon only show as there is only a hand full of us here in Ontario!

I will keep you posted on when the next meet will be. Last year we managed to get 6 xb together, and a few months ago we had a 3 xb meet.

Are you on facebook?

We have a page you should join we usually make plans for the get to gethers there.

It's not much of a page but its a start!
