Yes and Yes. There is a A/V output on the back as well as a mini A/V output on the front...Dont quote me but its something like a 12 band equilizer...there is already 6 presets or so as well as different "staging" as they call, basicly changes the sound to sound like your in a "studio" or "Theatre" or Concert and so on...

Does it have any neat things that go along to the music in real time on the screen? Like an ossciliscope display and whatnot? How is the iPod connectivity? Fast? Can I just plug an ipod in and then nav quickly to a playlist and gogogo? Or is there some boot/warm up time? I like just hopping in the car, pressing play and on my way. Waiting for anything would drive me nuts. What sort of security features does it have?

Lemme answer these one at a time

Does it have any neat things that go along to the music in real time on the screen? NO
Like an ossciliscope display and whatnot? NO
How is the iPod connectivity? AMAZING YOU CAN CONTROL EVERYTHING FROM THE SCREEN EXCEPT VIDEO YOU HAVE TO SELECT IT FROM THE IPOD AND CAN ONLY PLAY PAUSE IT ON THE SCREEN
Fast? YES
Can I just plug an ipod in and then nav quickly to a playlist and gogogo? YES, YOU CAN SCROLL EVERYTHING BUT INDIVIDUAL SONGS
Or is there some boot/warm up time? NO ITS IMMEDIATE, IN FACT IF YOUR LISTENIN TO YOUR IPOD ON THE WAY TO THE CAR AND PLUG IT IN WHEN YOU GET IN THE CAR IT WILL START AUTOMATICLY.
What sort of security features does it have? THE ONLY SECURITY IT HAS IS A MASTER PASSWORD THAT MUST BE SETUP, WHAT THAT DOES IS IF THE THING EVER LOOSES POWER (I.E. GETS RIPPED OUT) IT WILL NEED THAT PASSWORD TO BE OPERATIONAL..
do the radio controls on the steering wheel work? YES INFACT I USED A PAC ON MY LAST STANDARD PIO HEADUNIT AND USED THE SAME ONE FOR THE D3
is the navigation good as in accurate n easy to use and is the map very detailed?? I CANT COMPARE IT TO OTHERS BUT HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT YET. I DID TEST IT OUT IN THE DOWNTOWN PART OF CHICAGO AND IT WAS A BIT HARD TO INNITALY NAVIGATE THROUGH BUILDINGS. BASICLLY ONCE IT GETS A SINGNLE YOUR FINE BUT IF IT DOESNT HAVE ONE BECAUSE OF A TALL BUILDings
how much did u get it for???I GOT FOR 900 FROM ABT ELECTRONICS (YOU HAVE TO CALL TO GET THAT PRICE)
can u post some pics of it??? ILL POST SOON, DIDNT GET A CHANCE TO SNAP SOME SHOTS YET
how is the picture of it?? THE PICTURE IS CLEAR AS DAY, I EVEN WAS PLAYING VIDEOS FORMATTED FOR THE IPOD SCREEN AND IT LOOKED (AND SOUNDED AMAZING) I HAVE STOCK SPEAKERS IN THE XB AND I FELT LIKE I WAS IN A MOVIE THEATRE WATCHING "CRASH"
is it easy to bypass it so u can watch movies when driving??? YES IT WAS VERY EASY, WHEN BEST BUY INSTALLED IT THEY WOULD NOT DO IT BUT I JUST POPPED IT OUT AND DID IT MYSELF (SEE http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4670)
does it play burned dvds ??? HAVENT TRIED.

HOPEFULLY THIS HELPS GUYS, KEEP ALL THE QUESTIONS COMING

Thanks for the answers, man. This unit looks like a bargain for what it offers.

i want this unit so bad! waiting for my next paycheck and im going to get one on ebay, like 830 bucks for a new one! I hear the only problem is that it only has one slot so you have to switch between nav and dvd's a lot. It only remembers the last trip you program when you take out the nav cd so if you put in a dvd and you want a new route youd have to switch discs again. Small price to pay for the cheapness of this nice head unit.

Well, by default you can't even use the disc slot for playing movies while driving anyways, so its not much of a downside.

Unless you bypass it, but then the preferred (at least to me) method of music and movies would be right off the ipod anyways.

Default Pioneer D3 Installation

I just installed my D3 - It works great with more features than I'll ever use! However, Using the brackets that came on my Scion/Pioneer radio, the D3 is too small for the stock front cover (that's the cover that has the heater controls) It is about 1/2" too short on each end and sticks out just a little too far to use the supplied frame. The I-pod cable that was installed by Scion has the wrong connector. So, you have to buy one specifically for the D3. Other than that, It works fine. Has anyone else had problems?

I just bought an xb about 3 weeks ago. I ordered an avic-d3 (with the ipod cable) and an infinity bass link today. I'll post pictures as soon as it all gets in and I get it installed which should be no later than a week. I'm so anxious! I want to replace my stock mids/highs anyone have suggestions? I don't want to spend more than about $600 on that.

The D3 has plenty of power and Tone adjustment. I simply turned the loudness function on and with stock Scion Speakers it sounds great.
