Audio help!!!
I already tried searching, but couldn't find anything...
So, I got into my xB today and the stereo comes on, but there is no sound coming from the speakers. I have the stock headunit with an adapter on it that gives my rca outs. going to a Kenwood amp (mids/highs) and an infinity amp (bass). As of right now my Kenwood is the only one with a fuse in it because I am working on my sub box. So, at this point I am not happy. I check to see that the amps are getting power and they are...even with the engine off, which doesn't make sense. I checked my inline fuse, the fuse on my amp, and the fuse in the dash. Is there something some of you may have experienced in the past? I am totally confused and want to get my stereo back up and running.

So if your amps turnon, but there is no sound. Then there is either a problem with the line out converter, the RCA's, the input for the RCA's on the amp or the output of the amp to the speakers. So your going to have to start swapping peices of this problem out to see what the problem is. I would check the LOC first to make sure it is hooked up right. With the amps being on with the engine off, are you sure you your remote wire is not tapped into the constant 12volt wire on the radio, it should be tapped into the switched wire behind the radio.
Do you have a digital multi meter, to check for voltage at the amp, on the power wire and the remote turn on. Plus double check your ground. Where did you get the remote turn on for the amp at? What color wire was it if on the back of the radio?
I have a multi meter. So, I should check to see if the remote wire as the positive when i turn the accessory/xB on? The color of the remote wire was blue like every other install I've done. I'll check my ground.
Yes check and see if you get power when you turn the key, and also i meant the color of wire you tapped into behind the radio, not the blue remote wire. Just to double check you have a factory deck in correct, not an aftermarket one.
OK I checked it with the multi meter. I checked it on DCV 30. I am not too familiar with the multi-meter so if I did something wrong please correct me. The needle moved both when the key was on and off while touching the remote wire and ground wire.
Okay so you got voltage with the key on and off, thats why the amp is staying on, you need to change the remote wire to a switched circuit. Heres somthing i forgot to ask you did this amp previuosly work in the car before today. Im still thinking on what to try next.
Allrght Jason i have to explain somthing about myself, i am a car stereo installer for a living. I may ask you if you have somthings that might sound outlandished, but for me its every day items, that i have laying around work when i troubleshoot systems.
Do you have an extra LOC, set of RCA's, and amp? You will need these items to troubleshoot the problem. If you do not have these items (or can get some from somwhere)are willing to pay a shop to do it.
Most likely your outputs of the amp to speakers went bad. To determine this you will have to change variables in the problem by, changing the LOC out and see if you get sound, if not try a different set of RCA's. If still no sound, then it is the amp that is the problem, the out put or input on the amp is bad. You then could try a new amp and if sound then you know its the amp. Just a few things to try and help solve the problem. Let me know.

Well grab those items and see if you can find a LOC on the way. You could pay a shop to do this, but it's cheaper this way just incase the amp did die and you have to buy another one.
A quick way to check the amp without disassembly is to use a walkman/MP3 player and a plug to RCA adapter that you can get at Radio Shack. Just connect the the player to the inputs of the amp and if you get sound you look forward toward the head unit. If you don't get sound you know the amp is likely your problem.
