Default Auto Shift Boot & New Seat Cover Pix

I had an idea for an auto shift boot. Why should only the sticks have a boot? So I made one just for my auto.
Also just installed my new Shear Comfort Neoprene seat covers. Here are the pics of everything.

Turned out nice. What did you make the shift boot out of?

Red vinyl from the fabric store. I also learned how to use a sewing machine today. It's more fun than I thought it'd be. Thanks!

Well done, I'm feeling the no head rest look as well. Thinking that I should have gone that route.

I love the boot. How does it attach at each end? Does it go under the silver ring at the bottom?

I made it to fit over the silver ring cause I didn't want to paint it red. I sewed a piece of velcro from top to bottom so it would slip over the handle.

I had a crash course. My wife was going to do it for me but when I told her how I wanted it done she said have at it. I practiced alittle then just started doing it. It's actually fun once you get the hang. There are some for sale on line but don't know if they'd work on the auto. Plus I didn't want to pay 45 bucks for something I could make.

Thanks for the comments. The hard part was laying it out. It has to be a little longer than needed so it will wrinkle up once installed and the top opening has to be large enough to fit over the huge shifter ****/lever. On mine the one seam is in the front so it is not seen as much. I toyed with making 4 pieces or making it look like there were more pieces but chose not to. Good luck with it and post up some finished pics.

Thanks! I still have some stuff on order and I'm unsure if I'll have it in time for my next show in 2 weeks.

The sewing machine can be your good friend. Vinyl is pretty cheap, so no sweat if you ruin a few pieces, and from the shift boot, you can go elsewhere in the car an make use of your newfound skill. Have fun with it. I love PE (personally engineered" items. Makes the BOX even more unique with your special touch. Congratulations and have fun with it.

Wow, if you didn't say so, I would've thought that was a 5-spd. Great job on that boot.
