Default automatic door locks

My daughter just bought a 2009 Scion XB (I believe thats the model) for her flower shop. I deliver for her a couple days a week while her regular driver is in school. During the summer months, we like to keep the engine running and the a/c on while we are stopped for a delivery so the flowers stay fresh while we are in the delivery site. We are usually never more than a few yards away, mostly places like hospitals or office buildings or places like that. She purchased a couple of extra key fobs and chip keys just for this reason. However. unlike the previous vehicle we used for deliveries ( PT Cruiser), the Scion wont allow us to lock the vehicle with the key in the ignition. A great feature for normal consumers, just not for our purposes.

Is there a way to override this feature? We certainly don't want to leave the vehicle running without the doors locked, nor do we want to leave the flowers in the vehicle in 100° heat either.

Any suggestions to override the "cant lock your keys in the vehicle" feature?

you can get an aftermarket alarm... then you can lock it while its running.

it's possible other members know how to overide the anti-lock out.
