Because not all cars do that. It's debateable the greatness of it. Why would you care? If someone is going to jack your car (with you in it), a pane of glass won't stop a bullet from reaching your temple.

also the doors will open from the inside regardless of whether or not they're locked. try it. get in the car, lock the doors, and pull the handle.

They arent supposed to on the tC. Personally, that is THE most annoying feature on any car that I have driven. Most of my friends figure out how to disable that fairly quickly on other cars.

no true... i used to live in NYC in one of the most ghetto neighborhoods... once i start my old camry, i was glad the door locked automatically. sometimes, if bums or panhandlers see you in a car, they will walk up to you and knock on the glass. its just another layer of "security" that one would feel, knowing teh doors locked by themselves.

bullets and guns??? do you know how hard it is to get a gun in nyc. granted that sounds odd, but i dont see or hear many people getting mugged with guns. more with knives.

but, i dont have any alarm system on my tc, since i no longer live in nyc. but going to get the viper alarm w/ rremote start soon.

edit: wow, lots of typos. i just had a couple of beers, so please excuse me.

My anti carjack, mugging etc. Upgrade :

heh heh

Seriously though..... The way I see it, I can press the lock button when I get in the car if I am in a bad neighborhood... having it lock automatically is just annoying to me.

i like how my camry locks the doors when you put the car in drive and then unlocks them automatically when you put it in park. It's not really that practical, but i think it's kind of cool

That is a very old feature.... even many of the old mechanical locks had that. Seems that more of them had it than the new ones!

As far as I know the doors onlly automatically lock on automatics with the TRD securrity system. And it only does that when you put the car in gear to drive, not from the instant it's started....
