Default Basic info on stock 06 xa sound sys

I am looking to upgrade my basic speakers. I have two highs up front, and i belive the driver and rear speakers are 5 1/4. Please correct me if i am wrong. I would like to run high quality highs and mids to replace what is stock in the stock locations. Can anyone make suggestions? Keep in mind that i would like to keep the stock head unit, because i like it. Is it possible to run a small amp to these upgraded speakers with the stock head unit in place. I am not much of an ICE person so let me know what i am missing.

Sounds like you need a Line Level Converter to shange the speaker wires to RCA's, then run the RCA's to an amp for your speakers.... are you a DIY'er

Well, depending on how cinfident you are, You may want to take it to an audio shop..

that is the item you'll need. there are other types, but that will be the easiest for you to use. I couldn't find one in current auction, but they are there every now and again. The RCA plugs will send signal to your amp... you'll also need a fused power cable going to the amp from the battery +... and you'll need a 3ft. or shorter ground from amp to chassis... A remote wire that comes off that adapter and speakers/amp is everything you'll need.... You can buy all the wires in a kit at Wal-Mart or any place that has any car audio equipment....
