Our battery light comes on sometimes, especially if we go through a little water, any idea what may be going on here..

Well Ron,
I had couple of older cars (both Caddies) that did this when I went through a large puddle. In my case the alternator belt was getting wet and it was slipping on the alternator pulley. That would illuminate the idiot light . After several seconds the belt would dry up and everything would go back to normal. I could hear the belt squeeling as it was starting to catch.

But I've been through some large puddles in my xB and never seen this problem. Maybe the belt is loose on yours?

 

check the belt tension, sounds like a good place to start, that usually fixes it
