Best crossover setting?
When I bought my amp for my subs I didn't buy a crossover because the box on the amp said it already had one built in. Well I finally took the time to test the amp's crossover by playing various frequencies (50Hz-300Hz) and I found out that at it's lowest setting the built in crossover will only cut off somewhere between 100Hz and 200Hz. I've heard that some people set their crossovers at 50 or 80Hz, which brings me to my question. What do you guys think is the best crossover setting? I want to go lower and buy a new crossover but am not sure what frequency to set as my cutoff.
Thanks for any info in advanced.

your amp probally just has a low db roll off, like 6 or 12 db. thats how fsat it crosses over. if a cross over is set at 100 hrz, it dosent block anythith over that it reduces it by its roll off ever octave, so a 12 db would reduce anything over 100hz at 12 db per octave, until is was all gone. If you want to buy a cross voer, make sure its adjustable up to a 18 db roll off, then cross it over between 80-120 hrz
Thanks for the info, I didn't know that crossovers just decreased the volume of the higher frequencies. I thought it just cut them off completely. I found out the other day that THX subs have their crossovers set at 80hz, so I'll look for one of those with an 18db roll off.
