Best Location for 12v source underdash??
Does anyone know the best place to get a 12V source under the dash. I am thinking that the ignition switch would be a good location. Happen to know the color of the wire that I could tap into. I have a couple of Autometer guages that I need to hook up to a 12 V source and just looking for help on finding a good location since I don't have a wire schematic. Thanks for your help.
I know this should probably be in the electrical section but I believe more people cruise this general area.

Thanks guys I didn't even think of the Cigarette Lighter....
I did take a look at the fuse block under the dash but damn there were a bundle of wires going into it. Its not like the old muscle car fuse blocks that I'm used too.....lol I'll also take a look at the fuse block again as well.

Now you can add additional circuits without cutting or splicing. Ideal for CD players, radar detectors, car phones, etc. Installs in existing fuse blocks of all domestic and imported vehicles. Accommodates accessories requiring up to 10 amps. Available for standard blade or mini blade fuses. Fuse not included. Made in USA.
Question....Is it bad to Piggy back off another fuse?? I was told its a bad Idea but I haven't a clue
Hey all,
New to the forums... been lurking for a while. Thanks for the good content...
Anyway....
I'm doing about the same thing right now, but trying to power a line amplifier for an XM PnP radio, but I'm having a problem with grounding properly. This is on an 04 xA.
I've got an add a circuit installed with a 15v fuse for the 12v needed for the amp, but it doesn't seem to be working..
I tried grounding to the steel bar that's up above the steering colum (pretty sure I tested postive for ground there) but it's just not happening. Where are you guys grounding to under the dash for all your add-ons?
Thanks!
Zach

Not 100% sure on the xA but on the xB there is a gounding spot behind the drivers side kick panel. I think it's a 10mm nut with some other wires going to it for ground.
