Blower Motor replacement
Here is a fun one. Turned on my 2006 scion XA and no air was coming out of the vents. Took out the glove box and gave the blower motor a spin. It stays on until the car turns off. I am stuck in the vicious cycle. I have looked up videos and have had only one XA related post pop up on how to replace. Wanted to know if anyone had any experience on this in more detail? Seems like a real PITA. Also curious if the removal process is relatively the same for the XB’s. There is a ton of content on those as usual. Thanks a bunch
We had to replace the fan on my sons xb at about 100K miles. If you hit it, it spins.
We used a fan from rockauto that was probably a generic fan. Not quite a drop in, but it has worked for another 65K miles
Looks like I did not make a video of the process, but other than the slightly off fitting, I don't remember it being that bad a job
Push seat back, take out glove box... I think some of the connectors were a bit of a pain - take photos while you do it for wire routing
Took the old fan apart (destructively) to see if my theory about carbon smearing across the commutator ring was the problem, but I couldn't tell if that was the issue or not.

From what I can tell the process looks to be similar with the scion XB. Either way I’ll give it a shot and try to take pictures of the process. Blower is coming in late Wednesday. I’ll follow up with how it goes
Not too bad of a job but there is some nuances to the 06 XA. My best advice is to follow the general line of screws around the blower housing. Also there is a mounting screw in the back of the ecu as well as a 12mm bolt that will have to be removed from taking out the trim on the passenger side. The best and only video I can find showing you how to do this is available here. Best of luck to future XA peeps and ask away if you need help.
