Default boomerang armrest problem anyone?

Just wanted to ask anyone that has the Boomerang armrest is running into this same problem. For some reason the rubber top part is turning a chalky white color?I do not use anything other then a soft damp cloth to clean my interior and the armrest.I really dont want to try anything like an Armor All type product,I looked in the instruction booklet they gave me for the install and they have no kind of cleaning/care instructions for it.I will have to call Chris when I get a chance.I really like the armrest,it's a great product...maybe I got a bad batch off the rubber?Heres a pic.

Looks to me that the cover is gassing because of the molding process. You could use a lowgloss protectorant maybe?

Just out of curiousity, why exactly did you replace your armrest?

If you don't use a rubber and vinyl detailer (Armor-All type product) on your armrest, it will stay chalky white. I suggest you recover from your phobia, go buy a can of Meguiar's IInterior Detailing Foam. It won't leave your armrest greasy, if you're afraid of that, and if you really hate it, you can always wipe it off and let it evaporate.

The xb doesn't come with an armrest so he didn't replace anything... unless he had another brand before this one???

I noticed mine doing the same thing within a week of installing it. I only had my car for 2 days before I put the armrest in. I've always used armorall in all my cars and I've never had a single problem, so I used it in my new xA as well. Long story short, the armrest looks great now. It doesn't take much to "condition" it.

I have had my Boomerang a month now and love it. It was starting to have some whitish areas so I used Armorall - did the trick!
It looks great again.

Cover it? Hmmm I guess you could take it to any auto upholstry shop and see if they have stuff to match your seat fabric. They could probably do it real easy, and it should be cheap. I kinda like the rubber. I'll just Armorall it once in a while.

I found an upholstry shop around here close that's going to cover mine in black leather. That way it will match when I get my Katzin leather in. I think I'm also going to sand down the bottom plastic piece and paint it black too.

I will post pics of it when I get it and Chris will more than likely post and/or deal with the price later on.

i like the way it mounts in comparison with the ZETA.
the zeta just looks cheap and like a piece of crap.

although if i had a chalky finish on my armrest, i wouldn't want it at all..

its a big toss up!

LowProMofo

Got your PMs and if Chris said it was ok to post pics here are couple of shots of the Leather Top option that Boomerang will be offering.

I would like to say that BoomCo and especially Chris go above and beyond when it comes to listening to the customer and getting the job done. In my first original post on the boomerang product, I said that the only thing that would complete this armrest would be to have a leather top. Well Chris personally called me up and told me that BoomCo could do it and would be making this option available.

A week or so later I got the top and he perfectly matched it to my Katzkin interior down to even the same red stitching.. Now is that customer service or what. I am sure BoomCo will be developing other Scion accessories and if Chris is running it I am sure he will again go above and beyond to satisfy his Scion customers.

Once again great job BoomCo and thanks Chris for all your efforts in making this armrest the best in the market.
